STOP USING ESSENTIAL MOD, USE ALTERNATIVES

I can’t believe I need to say this, but please uninstall the Essential mod. If you want to play online with friends, use the Worldhost mod, or the e4mc mod, there’s 0 reasons to use Essential.

Edit: Essential is literal bloatware (like others mentioned, filled with microtransactions and completely unnecessary things so that they can more easily collect users data), and borderline malware (a few users mentioned that the patch no longer works? If this is true and they crash your game for having the patch installed, it IS malware).

I am not sure about the current situation, but the developers also were pushing against making the mod opensource, a huge red flag with any software that collects user data (especiallyfor a Minecraft mod). I think right now they have a version that is sort of open source, but given their past, I highly doubt that it is the same as the actual version users are able to install.

It is very sad to see that people install it just for the online feature, not knowing about the much better alternatives I mentioned before

I gotta know what mod creates these mist clouds after rain, it DEVOURS my fps

I suspect:

Particle rain (duh)

maybeee...subtle effects?

And nothing else tbh, but I'm really lost, I tried to turn off mist after rain in the config of particle rain, but it doesn't go away, so I'm not really sure, I gotta turn it off or tone it down in some way cuz it just demolishes my fps

any help would be appreciated, the whole modlist is in the second photo

before and after Bronze tools, re-texture from a scrapped project of mine

not sure if this doesn't exactly fit in with the sub considering it's not an in-game screenshot or anything, but if any moderator removes this pls be kind enough to tell me where to post it instead 🙏

What version is the best for modding?

First of all In my opinion 1.12.2 forge is the goat of modding. ( God bless its soul my first modding experience and my favourite og version when I was a kid )

But I feel 1.21.1 neoforge has such a strong potential

Like you can have all the mods ( 90% ) of the community in it

What's your thoughts and reasons?

I'd like to know.

I'm modding 26.1 and the amount of times I wanted a mod it just outright available for 26.2 but not for the former

Also theres mods like Untitled Duck mods that says it works on 26.1 but decided it doesnt when u open it,,

Compat mods like polytone and not enough anims emf compat arent available for this version, it sadge

What mods do you think don't deserve to be as popular as they are

Whether because there's a better alternative or because you just don't think it's good what's a mod you don't think deserves to be as popular as it is?

Introducing Launchpad: Port your Fabric mods to NeoForge with zero platform-dependent code

We're happy to announce the release of our latest mod in the Sinytra ecosystem, Launchpad!

Launchpad is a small tool aimed at Fabric developers that lets you bring your mod to NeoForge without writing any platform-dependent code. Your mod metadata, entrypoints, class tweakers, registration code etc. stay the same.

When the game starts, Launchpad automatically discovers installed compatible fabric mods and loads them into neoforge as if they were written natively for the loader. At a glance, it is similar to Connector, but it does not make any changes to your mod on its own and requires explicit opt-in from the mod developer.

It's perfectly suited for modders who were considering using Connector to make their mod compatible with NeoForge, but were worried about the potential side-effects it might come with. Launchpad gives you full control over changes made to your mod and has effectively no runtime overhead.

At the same time, Launchpad's release is yet another step towards our upcoming Connector port. By separating the base locator and loader code into its own project, we provide mod devs with a lightweight solution and also improve its stability through automated tests and a smaller test surface. The Connector port is nearly done and at the moment we're mainly focusing on testing mods for compatibility. More on that in a later post!

Also huge thanks to u/MoriyaShiine for testing this early and finding many of my stupid bugs.

Way to make lights flicker (legit or mods)

I made street lamps on a road in my creative world, but would like to have the lights flicker occasionally creating a spooky or more realistic effect. The street lamps use waxed oxidized copper lanterns I’m pretty sure. Any way to make them flicker

My 1.7.10 weapons mod is now finished/live and I wanted to share! (Warcraftisgood's Awesome Weapons)

https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/warcraftisgoods-awesome-weapons

Finally finished my 1.7.10 weapon mod and wanted to share, started making this mod nearly 2 months ago as I noticed there weren't many simple but unique weapon mods for 1.7.10 rn when I was playing challenge games with my friends. This mod is designed with the 'explosive' feels of old 1.7.10 in mind such as orespawn from the 2015 era. Highly inspired by popularmmos (fav minecraft youtuber)

Warcraftisgood's Awesome Weapons adds in 75+ detailed weapons with unique mechanic/abilities, most of which are from games I play such as WOW/LOL/Expedition 33 to name a few, and were originally designed to be used for mini games like challenge games/hunger games. The mod mainly focus on aesthetics and character fantasies, most weapons were designed to try and capture the character fantasies of the original character they were inspired by.

The weapons in the mod that deals some type of ability dmg has built in scaling for weapon dmg meaning weapon abilities do more dmg the higher base dmg the weapon has, and infinite scaling is introduced through an item that can be used to infinitely increase an item's sharpness (can be crafted or drop off high hp mobs). Mod focuses on weapons themselves and not on acquisition so most weapons are gotten from just pure RNG by fighting mobs/crafting caches. The mod itself is highly configurable for balancing, and although it's already balanced for a regular survival world, it's meant to be played in higher player power mod packs such as divine rpg/Orespawn. Weapons have rarities, with higher rarity weapons usually having more detailed abilities.

Good mining mod packs

Looking for a well put together mod pack that is (as the title says) focused on mining. The main issue I run into with mod packs is there’s basically 0 reason to go underground and mine when you can just run about 100 blocks to a structure, loot it, and have armor and tools. Not to mention most mod packs basically incentivize this by making weapons/armor have special properties and buffs whereas crafting it doesn’t or requires way more resources and just isn’t worth it.

Would prefer something more medieval themed (unlike terrafirm greg craft where you advance way too much for my taste), and would like it if the ores were actually meaningful such as gemstones or something instead of like 4 different tin or silver ores that don’t do anything or are used for way too advanced machines.

Looking almost for and dwarven style RPG focused underground, i enjoy going into deep caves, mining resources, crafting armor/jewelry/artifacts and becoming strong instead of just finding it in chests.

Bonus points if it has a cohesive quest line and not just thrown together slop.

Please give your recommendations down below!

Issues with chunk loading and poor optimization in the modpack

Recently, while adding various mods to the modpack I’m trying to improve ranging from structure and cosmetic mods to optimization mods (which, as you can see in the video, aren't actually working) and mods that add a lot of bosses. I ran into some issues. Unfortunately, for reasons that aren't entirely clear, I noticed that chunks are loading terribly and NOT smoothly. I tried to make sure the problem is clearly visible in the video, and I think the situation is well-illustrated. I’ve also included a list below of the mods in the pack I’m working on; the modpack itself is called "Ice and Fire: Dragons." I should add that I don't want to use a mod like "Chunky," because the way it worked for me meant I would have to wait 24 hours to generate a 10,000-by-10,000-block area and we all know that everyone wants the map to be fully loaded.

We Finally Have the Heart of Ender in Minecraft Java!

MC Dungeons: Reimagined is a mod that aims to bring the content of Minecraft Dungeons into Minecraft Java in a fresh, reimagined way. It plans to add virtually everything from the Minecraft Dungeons End, including custom End sky, biomes, new structures, enemies, bosses, gear, and much more.

The mod has a very promising future and truly deserves more support. Here are some of its planned features:

  • Finish the Giant Royal Guard.
  • Finish the Obsidian Monstrosity.
  • Finish the Arch-Illager/Heart of Ender.
  • Finish the Mooshroom Monstrosity.
  • Add the Wretched Wraith.
  • Add the Jungle Abomination.
  • Add the Ancient Guardian.
  • Finish the Tempest Golem.
  • Add the Vengeful Heart of Ender.
  • Add the Ancient Hunt and overhaul all the Ancients.
  • Add the Tower.
  • Overhaul the Bound Necromancer.
  • Overhaul the Nameless One and the Corrupted Cauldron.
  • Finish all work-in-progress items.

On top of all that, the mod also plans to completely overhaul the End dimension.

There's still a lot more planned, but much of it will remain a secret for now. https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/mc-dungeons-reimagined NOT MY MOD!

Did the Essential team block Essential Patcher???

I kept crashing before the game could even open and I found out it was Essential Patcher so I tried it by itself on like every version of Essential and it crashed EVERY time.
If they did that sucks cause I use it in every modpack

Tired of messy advancement screens? Check out my new mod: Lucid Advancements!

If you play large modpacks, you probably know how unusable the vanilla advancements screen gets once you have dozens of mods installed. It turns into a massive, overlapping web that is almost impossible to navigate.

I made Lucid Advancements to fix exactly that. It's a completely client-side overhaul that replaces the vanilla tree with a clean, list-based interface.

Main Features:

  • Search & Mod Filtering: You can search by title, description, or isolate specific mods by typing @modid (like @create or @farmersdelight).
  • HUD Tracking: Pin your current goals to your screen so you can track your progress in real-time without constantly opening the menu.
  • Expandable Requirements: Click on any advancement card to see a detailed checklist of exactly what you are missing.
  • Client-Side Only: You don't need this on the server. Just drop it into your modpack instance and it reads all vanilla and modded data seamlessly.

Currently available for 1.21+ across all major loaders (Forge, NeoForge, Fabric).

Would love to hear your feedback or suggestions if you decide to try it out!
