Shine 2.0: Update to my VFX without shaders mod

Shine is a mod I made that adds bloom, colored lighting, rim light and shading options, without shaders.

I never liked playing with shaders, and I love how the base game looks. I made this to improve the atmosphere of the base game at little to no cost on performance.

You can get the mod here if you are interested!

PS: I will also work on backports in the future.

Modpack so heavy it became gpu bound

was playing prominence II: hasturian era, until i "tweaked" some more settings that including render distance and shaderpacks, and my pc was taking off flying essentially, i have a very nice pc, but wow a modpack taking up 10 gigs of video memory/vram is absolutely ludicrous, not to mention those 26 gigs of ram

Screw it: I'm recovering from surgery, low on inspiration, and need something to do. Give me ANY idea for a cool cosmetic armor piece or item and I'll model it and put it in my mod.

I'm going to be combining a couple of my mods into one mod for cosmetic armor and decorative items. Think of it like a decor mod but for characters, I guess. I want ideas, and I always loved those posts about "give me anything and I'll draw it", so that's what I'm going to do, except it'll be a fully modeled and rendered armor piece that YOU can use. Only rules:

-no nsfw (obviously)

-has to be something that can fit neatly as one armor piece/item. I'll do a full set if I REALLY REALLY like your idea though.

-I can't do any kind of fancy effects, I'm bad at coding lol. So temper your expectations.

-LMK if you want credit for your ideas, and what you'd like me to put in the credits. Otherwise I'll just put it in.

I'm making this post a little bit before going to bed, so any ideas you drop I'll be working on tomorrow(and likely over the next couple days, knowing my pace of work). But I'll show you a screenshot when I'm done with the model.

This is probably going to get either no attention or I'm about to be very, VERY busy.

EDIT:since the latter option seems likely, please only suggest one thing at a time, and make sure it's just one armor piece (slash item! I already have a cup of coffee lol). like a helmet, shirt, pants, etc. however, I will do my best to honor as many requests as possible.

EDIT TWO: please make sure your idea is COSMETIC ONLY and is NOT A FULL SET. i mean you can still suggest full sets but im probably just gonna do the part i find coolest, at least for now.

EDIT THREE: while i greatly appreciate any suggestions, i will just say that i generally prefer making up designs over recreating existing stuff. something like “cool flaming knight hat” works. though, i don’t mind recreations either, so long as you’re okay with a little artistic flair on my part.

EDIT FOUR: just because i got a LOT more suggestions than i’ve expected and it’s barely been two hours, im going to be tweaking the rules a little for my own sanity: IF YOU SUGGEST SOMETHING FROM A GAME/MOVIE, I AM GOING TO BE DOING MY OWN VERSION RATHER THAN A ONE TO ONE RECREATION. this is also partially because a bunch of mods exist for costumes already, and i want to do something unique and fun! but i will try to capture the spirit as best i can. anyways im going to bed now, but feel free to keep em coming!

Base for lockpicking in my gothic stalcraft like mod

Lockpicking work as a simple minigame where pins inside lock fall down every move we make, and we need to catch them, there are diffrent pins (green old/brown rusty/silver normal/golden new/blue magical) that move in diffrent ways and we need to predict correct combination, if we miss too many our lockpick breaks. To win we have diffrent movements that we get with better lockpicks like pause for 1 move/double move in sides/ or more lifes

There will be diffrent lockpicks (screen in comment) based on our lockpicking skill, with better and more complicated higher our skill is, for every level of lockpicking we get special bonus items to help us open lockpick with passive effect.

(it will look better later but that and all other things are just to check how it will work, its just alooooot of work to make it working with that ammount of stuf)

You can see more here about our project, or ask me any question you got:

What is this pipes mod?

I watched this video showing off Modular Routers and then saw these pipes. They look EXTREMELY useful, knowing that hoppers are limited for some reason. What is this mod? I need it!

Edit: Thanks to all the old people here. The mod is Thermal Dynamics.

Unique modpacks to play?

Looking for something unique to play that isn't tech, magic, cobblemon, or skyblock.

If you suggest "Beyond ____", "____ Opolis", or anything LunaPixelStudios you will be obliterated

Does anyone know a way to detect vibecoded mods on Github?

I admit this is only tangentially related to Minecraft modding, but given the recent discussions about the various problems of AI generated code and assets, I figured I'd ask.

I'm a mod-hoarder, and I love browsing recently published mods to find cool new things fresh off the press. These days though, it's a slog, constantly questioning whether something was made with an LLM, and I'm not familiar enough with LLM code to identify myself whether a mod is vibecoded without really obvious tells, but I know that people who are more knowledgable can pretty reliably tell, which means there must be some identifiable metrics...

So I have to ask, does anyone know of any tools that exist that you can point to a Github Repository and have it check, with even decent accuracy, if Java code is mostly vibecoded?

I feel like it would be a useful tool to have, even if it's not always accurate. This way I could run a check on any source-available mod that I'm suspicious of, and see whether to look into it more deeply or not before deciding to use it or reccommend it.

What’s the coolest mod you’ve seen?

I’m not talking about twilight forest or something that is pretty good. I mean mods that genuinely made you stop and go ‘wow that’s cool’.

Like for me immersive portals has gotta be up there

Fabricate 1.20.1 Released on Modrinth, Never Craft Twice Again!

Hey r/feedthebeast! A while back, I made a couple of posts about a mod I was building called True Polymorph that let you craft items directly from base materials. The support for the prototype was honestly overwhelming, so thank you all for that. After some life delays, a full architectural rewrite, and a name change, I'm finally ready to introduce you all to the beta release of Fabricate!

Quick refresher: skip intermediate crafting steps entirely. Got an oak log and want a wooden shovel? Don't bother breaking it down into planks and sticks first, let Fabricate handle that for you. Since the rewrite, I've been testing exclusively against GregTech and other microcrafting-heavy modpacks, and the results speak for themselves.

Fabricate targets Forge 1.20.1 and is up on Modrinth pending approval. QOL improvements and broader launcher/version support are on the roadmap, but for now, I'm really happy with where it's at. You can grab it here once Modrinth's review process wraps up, or from my GitHub releases page.

Thanks again, and happy crafting!

Anyone know what mod is changing these models?

I'm on 1.20.1. At first I assumed it was one of the Resource Packs I had on but after removing them all the rabbit and wolf models still look like this so it's probably one of my mods. I know it's not Domestication Innovation or any of DragN's mods. I was just wondering if anyone recognizes these.

Edit: I got my answer the models are from Primal which also changes the Polar Bear model as well.

I'm a University student writing a thesis on Minecraft and user engagement! You could help a lot by filling in a survey and answer a few questions regarding your engagement with Minecraft (16+)

This survey is intended for people who mostly play singleplayer, multiplayer, or both!

I'm writing a thesis on how community servers influence a player's engagement and relationship with Minecraft as a whole. You don't have to play multiplayer to fill this in, as data from singleplayer players are also very useful. The reason I'm posting it here is because players who use mods can also provide some unique insights, and modded servers is also an important thing to research. Though I'm mostly looking for some responses from people who also or mostly play singleplayer.

In this survey you're basically asked your opinion on community servers and how much you play on them, and then the survey tries to measure your engagement with Minecraft as a whole. The results will be used to see if there is a relationship between activity on community servers and someone's relationship with Minecraft. The overall goal of the study is to contribute to understanding the effect of decentralized community servers on the success of a videogame.

This survey is completely anonymous, UNLESS you want to participate in a Steam giftcard giveaway as a reward for filling it in because I'll need some way I can reach you (preferably just a link to your reddit profile!) and what region you're from or what currency you use so I can send the right card. I'll be giving out 3 steam giftcards and sending them around May 30th.

Though if you just want to help with my research and stay anonymous, then you can just answer with "no" when you get asked if you want to participate.

Participants under the age of 16 are not eligible to participate due to legal and ethical concerns.

You can go to the survey here:

https://q.surveys.utwente.nl/5ZMCyy2XZkaBehHY6pqJtw

If you want to help, please share it with other people! Thank you so much.

I should probably mention that this has literally no affiliation with Mojang or Microsoft

Devastation Mod (1.20.1 Forge)

Hey! I wanted to show some of the models/designs for a mod I’ve been working on called Devastation.

It’s a dark fantasy Minecraft mod heavily inspired by the Soulsborne series, focused around difficult multi-phase boss fights, large movesets, massive dungeons, cutscenes, and lore centered around loss, corruption, and fallen divinity.

Everything is still heavily work in progress, but feedback is always appreciated. If anyone’s interested in contributing or wants the Discord server, I’ll have it in the comments.

Mofu's Better End / Mofu's Broken Constellation is massively underrated, and it could easily become one of the best mods for the End.

Kinda crazy how Mofu’s Broken Constellation already has over 1 million downloads and still barely gets talked about. The mod feels insanely atmospheric and fits the End perfectly. The mobs and animations are crazy good for an alpha. I took these screenshots myself with shaders btw. really hope the creator gets more support someday, especially for stuff like custom sounds, because this mod has ridiculous potential. Also forgot to mention that the creator said he has been working on the next update for quite a long time, so the mod is still being actively updated and the update will eventually come.

I made a shader!

I made Carmine, a shaderpack that gives the world of Minecraft an eerie red tint. Perfect for horror & adventure maps, mods!

Also includes:

  • Dark shadows
  • Heavy red fog in the distance
  • An uncanny vibe in general!

Advice is appreciated, I'm relatively new to the world of Minecraft modding (As well as GLSL)

You can find the source here, and the shader on Modrinth!

I released my first Immersive Aircraft add-on!

The add-on is called Civilian Aviation!
It adds 7 airplanes and 2 helicopters, mostly modern aircraft but in a vanilla friendly style that blends naturally into Minecraft while still feeling distinct.

It also got some extra features such as

  • Fancy animation for levers and wings
  • Openable doors! (rmb)
  • Cool unique sounds for every plane
  • Engine sounds become muffled in first person perspective
  • Multiple color variants for every plane
  • Custom Spray Gun item for re-painting planes!
  • Retractable gear!

The models originally came from the IV official content pack, but since not everyone uses IV, I decided to bring them over so Immersive Aircraft players could enjoy them too.

For anyone interested, here are the links. Modrinth approval may still take a bit :P

What on Earth is "Whitelisting your Modpack/Modlist"?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I never really play modded servers, just premade singleplayer packs. I've seen the term thrown around a lot, several problem posts with people replying "whitelist your modlist", etc.

Can someone please ELI5? Thank you so much!

huge modpack w/ a fps problem

Basically, I’ve been having problems with my FPS dropping from 40–50 down to 5–15, and it doesn’t seem to be related to graphics quality or render distance. I tried lowering everything and nothing changed. Whenever I get close to my house, this happens. I’m playing with 10GB of RAM allocated, Minecraft is installed on an SSD, and my graphics card is an RTX 5070 Ti. I’m using Modrinth with 407 projects.

I would really appreciate it if someone could help point me in some direction, because I haven’t been able to figure out what’s causing this. I can list the projects included in the modpack, but like I said, there are 407 of them.

(Before I had the house finished, this almost never happened, and when it did, it only lasted for a very short time.)

EDIT: Btw just distanced myself 50 blocks from the (immense) house and fps went up to 60 somehow
