Moving to Strasbourg from the US and buying a house/apartment

Hey burgermeisters!

We are considering moving to Strasbourg in the next few years having spent lots of time here while on school fellowships.

We are looking to buy an apartment or house but seem to be completely flabbergasted by the real estate process here, compared to the US.

Can anyone here who owns property, especially if you moved from the US share about their experience buying/owning real estate here?

Ideally, we want to live in petite france or Krutenau/hospital area if outside of the island, but do share your experience if any on this as well.

(***this is not a solicitation for housing, we are early in the process and purely asking about the process and experience)!

EMPAVA induction cooktop question

Long story short, we were pressed for time and ended up taking what was on the shelve at the local HD during a recent reno. Picked up this Empava unit:

https://empava.com/products/30-inch-built-in-induction-cooktop-30ec04

This unit works differently than any other induction cooktop i have seen, perhaps its a factor of it being on the bottom of the price range, but the problem is:

The heat is modulated not by the intesity of the induction current, but by pulsating the current on and off at larger or smaller intervals, so at a medium setting, it clicks on and off every second or so and at a low setting, the interval is 4-5 seconds.

Generally it works fine, but heat control in most pans is nearly impossible for anything other than higher heat needs.

Can anything be done here? Are we using it wrong? Should we just get a different cook top?

If so, what similarly priced induction units do not work this way and actually modulate low settings?

Thanks!
