I play monhun series since P3, I played it with different weapons but i never touch gunlance because it builds so different compared to other weapons.
Recently i play back mhrise-sunbreak after many years (the last mh game i played it MHGU), and try to use gunlance as my main. As i understand that you need skills such as Artillery to boost shell damage, and attack up, affinity up skills only applies to attacks with gunlance only.
I don't think i can get all the dps related skills online without giving up other skills for my sharpness, guarding etc. So my question is should i just focus on boosting my shell damage to enhance my gunlance dps, or should i also put in other skills to enhance my gunlancing dps?
I love normal shelling burst spamming though.
I unlocked the village 10* quests after beating the Valstrax. It is said that you have to complete all the non-prowler quests from 1* to 6* village quest, but there is nothing after I have done so.
Let me explain a bit of my background: I have been a SnS main (2g,p3,4u,world,rise,wilds, gu), just started to play mhgu for few weeks and currently beats valstrax easily and unlocked village 10 stars. I am getting bored of my main weapon and decided to try switch axe after looking at the rest of the 13 weapons.
Oh hell this weapon is absolutely give me pain to master. I can beat many high rank monsters (village) within 10mins with SnS without even consuming a potion, but it take double time, consuming almost all of my mega potions to beat the same monster in mhgu.
I understand that like any other heavy weapon, every hit of switch axe requires big commitment where you can't just spam the attacks and still expecting to dodge immediately like SnS. But when i use swaxe and attack conservatively, i am not able to deal high dps to the monster in a long run, even though i can be in a safer position. If i play it aggressively, i get hurt more because i am still not adapting the "side step" evade thing yet.
Since switch axe is a weapon without any GP, block, or defense mechanism at all (except dodging). I wish to know how swaxe masters are able to deal the dmg so high and yet you can keep yourself safe within close distance to the monster, especially with those cluncky attacks given to the switch axe?
I read many of the posts, comments and weapon guide compendium around, but none can teach me the secrets behind. Maybe i am getting so used to the light weapon like SnS? Maybe i am using adept style for my switch axe (i love tempest axe for the mobility by the way)
Enlighten me please, i kinda love the mechanism of switch axe though. Cutting tail for every single monster i fought has became my entertainment now with switch axe, which i need many preparations do the same thing with SnS.
