It is a romantic night and city 17 refuses to make a sound, Gordon and Alyx sit on chairs at a table on the canal bridge, they were having a date, Gordon finally decides to stop being silent "Alyx, all this time I have been to scared to talk but I want to ask you something...". Gordon pulls a wedding ring made from pure xen crystal, "Alyx, will you marry me?" Gordon nervously asks while slightly stuttering. "Yes Gordon!" Alyx screams in joy, then they romantically kiss. However, behind some crates is Barney, his face pale and tears running from his eyes, he gasps for air as he tries to breathe "Why wasn't it me! I GAVE HIM THE BEER I OWED HIM, I THOUGHT HE LOVED ME!" Barney screams in anger. The next day Gordon and Alyx are at the cinema watching a movie called "the way of gerard" holding hands, they feel happy together, Barney goes to the projector and pokes the combine staff's shoulder while holding a revolver "wait what the fu-". He thuds onto the floor, blood pooling from the hole in his head, then Barney changes the clip on the projector to a video of him saying "Gordon, you should have picked me, now you will really pay!". Barney follows them home, later that night they finally fell asleep, Barney grabs Gordon's crowbar from under his bed, Alyx is sleeping peacefully in Gordon's arms like nothing can kill her, Barney prepares to strike to head and hesitates for a moment. Alyx's head explodes from the impact as her brains fly everywhere, the sound wakes up Gordon, he looks at her decapitated body in fear and disgusts and bursts into tears, Gordon grabs the crowbar from Barney's hands and strikes his jaw, he twists the crowbar vertically, splitting his head off his jaw as blood splatters on him. He starts mangling Barney's body until it's unregconisable. Then civil protection bursts in, they stop breathing from the shock, Gordon's hands and suit are covered in blood and the other's bodies stand there lifeless, they try to arrest Gordon and fail, Gordon escapes to Eli's lab to tell him the news.
