this is my four-clawed gecko (geyhra mutilata) called slug! she is a stowaway from someones luggage and was unable to be sent back to her home country so she was put in a rescue and eventually picked up by me
i have had her for coming up to 2 years now! i rarely ever see her in person so i have a camera setup, i can usually catch her eating with it and its so cool to watch
Today while I was going to clean the aviary, I noticed one of my girls was running around with an egg sticking out of her all bloody and cracked on the bottom.
Pic 4 is how I found her. After about an hour of multiple soaks in warm water and using a wet paper towel i was able to release the egg as it seemed to be clotted onto her. She had a prolapse from the egg which I have since been able to repair (slowly cleaning it off and gently trying to put it back in with a wet paper towel. Pic 5 shows her vent after repairing, it prolapsed again a further 2-3 times as she was trying to poop, but since then she has not prolapsed again.
Fast forward about 2 hours later, I am keeping her indoors away from the covey, I go to clean her vent and make sure it hasn't prolapsed again and there is this weird poop? membrane? blob? I genuinely have no idea what to do about it.
- Do I try to slowly release the blob? Is it actually her intestines still and i should put it back in?
I have no idea what it is. It has a mix of colours from brown/black to yellow and a bit of red the deeper you go.
I did try to clean the visible poop from it earlier which made it come out a little bit, but she sucked it right back in most of the way which is making me wonder if she will pass it herself?
Her poop is yellow, watery and has a pretty bad smell to it. Her behaviours are mostly normal (hell, when the egg was hanging out of her she was jumping around lol, she has been fighting me when restraining to clean) she is just a little puffy.
I am witholding food from her currently just in case she tries to poop and it causes her to prolapse again (let me know if I should keep offering pellet)
I have never had to deal with this before so I am pretty clueless. She is just under a year old and has only just started laying this week (didn't lay last year). This is not her first egg but maybe her second.
