I’m going to galaxy con OKC this Saturday and I picked up this copy of Booster Gold #1 to get signed by Dan Jurgens. Should I crack the slab myself or have someone at the convention do it? I know they usually charge a fee for that, but Im thinking I could prep a window bag if I crack it myself in advance. I also heard that cracking the slab myself messes with the census as well. does that really matter that much? I haven’t done a witness signing at a convention before so I’m new to all this, nor have I ever cracked a slab. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

Picked up my pull. The past 2 weeks have definitely been ripe full of anticipation. Ben 10 #1 and if destruction be our lot #1 are 2 books I’ve been dying to get my hands on. Additionally, I combed through every single copy of AB and AMM my LCS had and grabbed the best looking copies they had out of like 50 copies. It’s so crazy that every single copy had damages. Makes for an interesting story, lol.

Also, I’m very excited to share that my Scott Snyder comp from his whatnot stream just arrived from CGC! very happy to have gotten a 9.8. I checked the census and it’s a 1:1, so it’s very cool to add this to my collection. 1st cover and full appearance of scarecrow is definitely pretty rad.

Fresh from cgc, I just got a 1:1 Absolute Batman #19, first full and cover appearance of absolute scarecrow, from the collection of Scott Snyder! I’m very fortunate to have snagged a copy during his whatnot stream. I was trying for a #15 but it slipped through my fingers. Very happy to have gotten a 9.8 on this. My 2nd submission and 2nd 9.8. I’m very excited to add this to my collection! I’ve yet to see anyone post their own Scott comp copies so I thought I’d share mine.

Additionally, I noticed some smudges on the inside of my slab that I can’t get to. I don’t see them on cgcs photos, so I guess it was face down during shipping and the two plastics rubbing together put some skuffs inside. Should I ask cgc to reholster or just leave it. I know it’s a pretty common thing now but it’s pretty noticeable. I’ve also noticed that most absolute slabs don’t have first appearance/key info labeled on them. Is that just something they’re not doing for these series?

Happy free comic book day! Hit up a couple stores and got all the exclusives I wanted. Also took advantage of the sales and got some back issues I thought were cool. Picked some free comics and trades for my girlfriend, too.
Additionally, today marks the 1 year anniversary of my comic journey. I started last year on free comic book day, too. Crazy what can happen in a year. It won’t be for another few weeks until one year since I bought my first comic tho, lol. I’m planning on buying something special for myself to celebrate soon, so stay tuned.
