My baby is 4 months old and I have been told I’m spoiling him.

I was out with some family today and was told a few things that apparently I’m doing wrong with my baby, and it honestly left me questioning myself a bit. I feed him on cue and often feed him to sleep, and I was told that I’m spoiling him and making him too dependent on me.

I’ve tried a soother, and he liked it for a little while but doesn’t really tolerate it anymore. Sometimes he only feeds for a few minutes and gets distracted, so I was told that he’s probably not actually hungry and that I should stick to a 3–4 hour feeding schedule. I’ve been trying to time his feeds and create more of a fixed schedule, but it’s difficult because he’s not a big napper, and nursing is also an easy way to settle him when he’s fussy.

He also sometimes really struggles with the car, especially on longer drives. There have been a couple of times when he’s cried so hard that he gets sweaty and seems almost out of breath, which makes me really anxious, especially when I’m alone with him or we’re on the highway. So I try to keep car rides shorter when it’s just me and him. I was told that I need to be stricter and let him cry it out, but I find that really difficult when he’s that upset.

I genuinely thought we were doing okay, but after today I’m not too sure. I didn’t think I was coddling or spoiling him. It’s hard to watch him cry so much but I recognize I need to be more disciplined.

Update: It’s hard being a FTM, and I don’t think people realize how much their negative comments can affect someone. Thank you so much to everyone for your supportive and kind comments. Your words made me feel so much more confident.

E visa or in person tourist visa application from Canada?

Hi everyone,
I'm sure this has been asked before, but I'm finding the process really confusing.

I recently became a Canadian citizen and just received my Canadian passport. I'm currently in the process of surrendering my Indian passport.

We're travelling to India in December, and I'm not sure what the next step is. Can I apply for an e-Visa**, or do I need to apply for a paper visa through **BLS**?

I've looked at multiple websites, but they all seem to have different requirements, and I'm getting confused.

If anyone has gone through this process recently, I'd really appreciate hearing what you did. TIA!

Silent Reflux is ruining my baby’s sleep

Venting a bit, but also looking for some advice/reassurance.

My 6-week-old has had what seems like silent reflux since around week 4. He rarely cries from it, but he constantly makes this sad sour face and I can hear him swallowing things back down. It’s especially bad at night — he’ll only sleep in my arms, and the moment I put him down he starts clearing his throat, coughing, gagging, and sounding uncomfortable. I’m constantly anxious about whether he could choke.

I keep him upright for 30+ minutes after feeds, but I can still hear him swallowing things back up even hours later.

He also gets frequent hiccups, sounds very congested, and his little voice has become so hoarse. During feeds he makes loud wheezing noises too, though I’m not sure if that’s reflux-related or something else.

He was prescribed ranitidine about a week ago, but we haven’t seen any improvement yet. The pharmacist suggested following up with our doctor and possibly discussing a PPI, but I’ve read so many conflicting things online about long-term effects that I’m feeling really overwhelmed.

Has anyone had positive experiences with PPIs or found something that helped their baby? Seeing my LO so uncomfortable is honestly heartbreaking.
