So, no Spanish?

Will locals really be offended or annoyed if I try to use Spanish words to try to communicate? I'm not saying I'm going to speak it fluently and expect to be understood. I've been listening to podcasts trying to learn conversational Portuguese and (when spoken slowly) a lot of the words do sound the same. Or should I just stick to Google translate, even tho it's not the greatest. I just don't want to annoy the locals even more than they already are with tourists, I'm sure.

Help!

I've been having a rough time landing a job. I've been turned down at so many sites I'm ready to just quit. I don't get much feedback from the interviews so I'm not exactly sure what I need to improve on. Does anyone know where I can go for mock interviews? Please don't suggest AI. I've already gone down that path and it clearly hasn't helped much. It would be great to receive some human feedback. TIA!
