I'm just starting to get into jazz but I'm struggling to find the artists and albums that really resonate with me. As of now, my two favorite jazz (adjacent?) albums I own are Alice Coltrane's Journey in Satchidananda and Floating Points with Pharoah Sanders Promises. I also have Sun Ra's Angels and Demons at Play and I love the side A but side B is more beebop which I am not a fan of. I also really love Miles David Bitches Brew. I'm trying with Don Cherry and really love some of his stuff but I havent found an album of his that I love every minute of. Based on what I've said, any recommendations for similar artists and albums?
I really want to pull the trigger on the Erica Synths Resonant Filter Bank but the mono input is killing me. The new desktop version is stereo but too expensive and not a module. Any recommendations for stereo alternatives?
I've had The Sixes for a while now and I wanted to add the sub. I just got it and it's sounding very boomy to me. I then realized the main speakers were still outputting the sub as well. I looked into it and it seems like there's no high passing when sending signal to the mains. I wrongfully assumed that this is how all subwoofers worked. Does anyone know if it's somehow possible or if there's a work around I can use on any source? Bluetooth, phono and digital etc...
Right now I'm really interested in creating a sonic environment similar to some artists I love. Notably, Vladislav Delay, Huerco S, Picnic, Jan Jelinek, GAS, and some Andy Stott. Would love some advice on some specific techniques that can be employed to to achieve the bubbling, broken, texture rich and hauntological vibes of these folks.
Wondering if there's a better way to do this. I have a template for mixing ads that sends all VO through one Aux track and all music and SFX through another Aux track. I want to be able to bounce the full mix and stems out at two different levels (-14LUFS and -24LUFS) all at once. I was thinking I could set up two different busses for each of these on the Aux tracks, adjust the volume of one of them, then select them individually during the offline bounce. I suspect there's a better way to do this though. Any ideas out there?
