Wild Bluebell: One of the Most Aquatic, Green, Musky Florals I’ve Tried in a While
It’s quite a transparent and aquatic fragrance. I like the opening and the dry-down a bit more than the middle phase, where I start picking up the fruits.
At the beginning, it’s a very beautiful green scent, lots of floral greenery, flower stems, dewdrops, wet wildflower freshness, and all that good stuff.
Somewhere in the middle, it develops a strange sweetness from the persimmon, and I’m not crazy about it. I feel like the synthetic smell some people mention in reviews is actually the persimmon. I don’t know if you’ve ever eaten or smelled one, but personally, I don’t care for it as a fruit. It has a very specific, almost waxy and slightly cloying sweetness in both scent and taste.
The dry-down becomes very beautiful again, though, wild floral, powdery, fresh, and clean.
Even though it’s not the most innovative fragrance, there’s something about it that really draws me in. I don’t think I’ve come across many fragrances that smell both aquatic and powdery at the same time. Usually, powdery musky green fresh scents lean more soapy, floral, or citrusy, but here there’s a distinct aquatic note alongside the powdery musk, and I find that I like it a lot.
If the persimmon weren’t as prominent on my skin, this would honestly be a top-tier summer fragrance for me. Also, if the longevity was better, bc as many other Jo Malone London fragrances, longevity and sillage are very minimal, way too minimal for the price, someone could say.
