I'm proud to say I've officially met the Williams sisters IRL

Met Tara Platt last year and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn this weekend in Houston.

(I yassified myself to preserve anonymity lol)

Couple things Mary told me

  1. Nina was her first big time voice acting role which put her on the map to becoming a veteran voice actress

  2. She believes Nina became Tekken's most iconic female due to good writing from Bamco... dunno if we agree with that but if it works...

  3. Playing rivals against Anna comes naturally to her because she is estranged to her older sister IRL. They don't talk. Crazy info there ...

How do I get to NASA/Space Center Houston on a Sunday without a car?

Hi everyone! I’ll be visiting Houston from Toronto in October and I’m planning to visit Space Center Houston on a Sunday

I’m staying near Montrose/Midtown and I won’t have a rental car. I’ve been looking at public transportation, but I’m confused about the Sunday options.

What’s the best way to get to Space Center Houston on a Sunday? Is there any reliable public transit option, or am I basically limited to Uber/Lyft?

Also, if anyone has experience doing the trip on a Sunday, approximately how much should I expect to pay for transportation?

Thanks!

First time in Houston, can I fit the Zoo + Space Center into this itinerary?

First time visiting Houston from Toronto. I'm mainly coming for NostalgiaCon on Saturday, Oct 3.

Fri Oct 2:

  • Land at IAH 11am, arriving at my hotel around 2pm, Zoo is nearby
  • Worth going to the Zoo that afternoon, or too late/rushed?

Sat Oct 3:

  • NostalgiaCon all day

Sun Oct 4:

  • Completely free
  • Planning to do Space Center Houston

The Zoo is my priority, while Space Center is more of a "I've heard you HAVE to do it in Houston" attraction.

Would you:

  • Try to do the Zoo Friday afternoon?
  • Do Zoo + Space Center Sunday?
  • Or just pick one for Sunday if Friday doesn't work?

Also open to suggestions for things to do around Midtown/Montrose Friday evening if I skip the Zoo.

Thanks!

Does this interview process sound legitimate or like an employment scam?

I applied for a Multimedia Audio Producer position at Toronto Film Media about 2 months ago through Indeed and the Government of Canada Job Bank. I recently received an interview invitation.

A few things seem odd:

  • The email came from a personal Gmail instead of a company email.
  • The email was sent to the company’s own email address, and I was BCC’d.
  • It was a generic “Hi,” email with no name.
  • They asked me to interview on a Sunday between 12nn and 5pm with short notice.
  • I replied with my availability, but I still haven’t received a confirmation or meeting link.

On the other hand:

  • I found my original application.
  • The recruiter immediately identified the correct position when I asked.
  • The company has a website.
  • The recruiter has a detailed LinkedIn profile with years of film/media experience.

Has anyone dealt with Toronto Film Media before? Does this sound like a small company with an informal hiring process, or are these red flags I should be worried about?

I won’t be sending any money or personal information I just want to know whether you’d attend the interview.
