them not ending with any sort of "[command] and we will let you out" offput me so much, and easterman sounded so sullen. they really are putting him down soon LMAO

https://thewoksoflife.com/steamed-pork-buns-baozi/ i tried following this recipe a while ago but my dough turned out extremely stiff and springy and couldn't be worked with at all. i want to try again but don't want to waste a bunch more flour. what are some things i could have done wrong?
do they have a name? any backstory? are they portrayed by any particular skin? are they friends with your friends' reagents? are they fated to die, be reborn, or escape? if you have one, this is your opportunity to talk about your little guy
sorry the picture was taken in heaven lol. whenever i try to pull my magic rings closed today (ive tried multiple times) the stitches bunch up and get extremely tight while that little loop remains. it feels like for whatever reason they keep trying to twist as well? Idk what the problem is or if that's related
Following this pattern https://khuccay.com/the-color-octopus/ and running into a snag when it's time to create the tentacles. The instructions say "With head facing downwards, working in front loops of rnd 15, insert the crochet to the first st and take the green yarn.
Ch 17, starting in the 3rd ch from hook, 1 dc in each ch across until the end of ch (15 dc), skip 2 st on the rnd 15, sl st (we have done the first limb), * sl st, ch 17, ), starting in the 3rd ch from hook, 1 dc in each ch across until the end of ch (15 dc), skip 2 st on the rnd 15, sl st * repeat 7 times. At the end we have 8 limbs." I've looked at a video and have tried only going through the front loops like an invisible decrease, then both loops, and neither of them looked anything like the pattern. Is this just a skill issue or am I missing a technique?
