Great bars work, lively production, still containing
emotionallv driven tracks like close and let go my)
hand that are core to Cole's music. The Off-Season
was a reminder that Cole on wax is pure gold.
Embodying the spirit of a mixtape, Cole put down
the heavy themes and rapped at a high level
sounding fun, loose, and relaxed
DiCaprio 2
Notable tracks: Slick Talk, Off Deez, 151 Rum, Off
Da Zoinkys, Workin Out, Hot Box
Features: A$AP Ferg, J. Cole, BJ The Chicago Kid
Joey Bada$$, Method Man, Ella Mai, 6LACK
Feeling more like a debut than his actual debut
DiCaprio 2 saw J.I.D staking his claim in the
mainstream as the one to watch. Flow switches
booming production with great samples, the
showcase here was J.I.D's versatility; there's not a
role he can't execute (see Leonardo DiCaprio). Like
Leo, his accolades in might come later (Leo's late
career Oscar win, Grammy statuet for J.I.D).
In my eyes, these albums have some maybe not so
obvious similarities. Both harken back to their
respective mixtapes or earlier projects, Cole's The
Warm Up and Friday Night Lights and J.I.D's EP
DiCaprio and The Never Story. Both projects are
light on time and length with both clocking in under
an hour. Outside of Revenge of The Dreamers lll
DiCaprio 2 is the only time that J. Cole and J.I.D
have rapped on the same track for a solo release
With that out of the way, which one are y'all taking?
This isn't to instigate but celebrate how artists compliment each other.
