Hi all,

I 22m have always wanted to join the police. From speaking to officers who I knew socially and reading this subreddit I decided that I wanted to work and get some life experience before joining. I graduated uni in 2025 and have been living up north in my uni city since, as I got quite a good job at a law firm while at the end of uni. (Selling houses not criminal).

I have 2 questions first one is when is the right time for me to join. As mentioned I wanted to join at 18 but decided to work and live life for a bit but I was wondering whether joining in the next year or so would be the right time. So I’d be 22/23. I want to have a fairly long career so want to join in my 20s but don’t know if the time is right.

I definitely feel that in the last 18 months since leaving uni and working full time I have gained more maturity and experience dealing with people (angry clients). While I completing understand that this does not relate totally I feel abit more ready because if it. So would you say now is the time to join?

My second question as stated I am working in the city I went to university in but would want to join the force in my home county would i need to move back down south before applying or can I apply from up here and only relocated when I get a start date. I understand this can take some time.

Hi all, i 21m have an issue meeting people in person. I’ve tried thar apps and don’t struggle to get matches (I don’t get loads but I get enough where I don’t think my looks are the issue) but I can never seem to end up meeting people in person rather than through the apps. I think I am much more confident and better at talking to people face to face rather than via text and that’s why I can’t convert but even then I still struggle.

I am unsure of what to do or how to sort this. Most the time when I do end up going on dates there isn’t a second but I am unsure on what I am doing wrong.

Any help would be appreciated.
