Julia Hanna. "Basta"

"Jeff Knoll is a conservative, Sean O'Meara is a liberal, Rob Burton is best buds with Rob Ford"...whilst Julia leads into campaign promises with the Italian word 'Basta' (trans. enough, no more).

Imagine the societal melt down if an Arab-Canadian mayoral candidate used a similar word like 'khalas' (trans. done, enough, finished) in their campaign promises.

Oakville prepares to begin work on $7.5 million Towne Square revitalization (heard this one before)

"Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in two weeks, with intermittent work scheduled over the next year ... The town of Oakville will start a multi-phase rebuild of Towne Square later this month, adding amphitheatre-style seating, a water feature, new landscaping and accessible paving as part of a $7.5 million upgrade."

Tyler Collins, Oakville News

Oakville Town Square Project

"Construction at Towne Square will begin the week of September 14, 2026!

The project will occur in carefully planned phases designed to maintain access to downtown businesses, residences, and events (such as the annual Holiday Tree Lighting) throughout construction.

The Downtown Oakville BIA has announced its annual Holiday Tree Lighting will continue at Towne Square for the 2026 holiday season. The BIA also plans to host its winter events at Centennial Square, 120 Navy Street. A portion of George Street between Lakeshore Road East and Church Street will be closed from spring 2027 to the end of construction to accommodate other downtown events and activities wherever possible. Neil Peart: No One's Disciple

"Neil Peart: No One’s Disciple, which debuts on CBC Sept. 23, documents the late Canadian musician’s tough start as a young artist, followed by his meteoric rise.

Intimate heart-to-hearts between Rush members Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, alongside the reflections of other acclaimed drummers, open a window into one of rock’s most enigmatic percussionists."

Black beauty?

Hello. I grew these from black brandywine seed but they look nothing like a brandywine.

Flavour is sweet, smokey; low acidity, low juice; thick skinned, medium-large size.

Any real example of original Permanent Waves artwork?

I know the Permanent Waves album cover was altered for the USA market (newspaper headline deletion on left of image) but was always told a Coca Cola sign (right of image) was deleted for all markets. Instead, the names Lee, Peart, Lifeson were legally supplanted.

Does a true example of the original album artwork exist?

Is it normal to refuse gifts for children?

My in-laws always make a fuss about refusing *especially* monetary gifts.

Regardless of who is giving the gift -- there's always a drama show about not accepting....until it's allowed -- after a "hands up in the air, loud voices" show.

Is this the standard throughout the Balkans? To make children feel guilty?

Too early to know/understand what is happening here?

Black brandywine from seed, grown as seedling in same pot as campari (I ran out of space and wanted a couple more plants), transplanted to separate pot and hardened off.

The plant itself does not have potato leaves -- it looks like a typical bushy cherry tomato plant. But this fruit does not look like a cherry tomato.

Will this turn out to be some sort of hybrid? I have no idea what the parent plant(s) looked like or the type of tomato they were -- the fruit in the picture is from seeds I saved from a lunch salad.

What is this fish?

Apologies for the terrible image.

Looks like a pike body but the head is very small, eyes are very forward, pectoral fins are much further back than a pike. No discernable patterns on the body.

u/AogamiBunka — 4 months ago

What is this all about? Black brandywine.

These two pots have been grown from black brandywine seed -- seeds I saved from previous tomatoes.

Any idea why the leaves are nothing like brandywine leaves? These look like cherry tomatoes.
