new euphonium player here, started playing on concert baritone 4 months ago, slowly transitioned to a marching euphonium
didnt play euph for a couple weeks cuz of a vacation, took a week to regain most of the skills i had prior to vacation but now theres a gurgling sound in my middle register (C to E ish on bass clef )
i thought it was water, but it usually doesnt go away after emptying my spit valves and is still there after emptying them thoroughly. also thought it was cuz of my embouchure so i firm up my corners and it works sometimes but most of the times it didnt work
which one did you enjoy more/was better GE wise
for me its still 2016
im a ww player (flute/picc main in concert band, alto sax in jazz) and i want to march a drum corps next season.
asked my bd for a baritone and he rented me a concert baritone, then switched it out for a small bore marching baritone, then gave me a marching euph on the condition that i march euph next season.
any tips for holding this thing? its heavy as hell and i went to a dci preseason camp where the tech told me to do push ups and just practice holding it, which im doing but its honestly not helping as much as id like it to.
i also cant really seem to play it well while marching because centering the pitch is hard while marching, so any advice on that would be appreciated.
lastly, i have a decent range on euph (roughly pedal G to double Bb above the staff), but i really want to develop tones, especially on higher notes. i do long tones and its helped a lot on the middle register but i still sound pretty bad high up (anywhere higher than C above the staff bass clef).
