Hi everyone, I'm hoping to get some advices on my chances for medicine (graduate entry level). Here is my background:

  • International student studying Bachelor of pharmacy (honours) and expecting to finish with first class honours
  • Research experience: working on my honours thesis at the moment and shadowing in a research team
  • Work experience: over 3 years of community pharmacy experience and multiple hospital placements
  • Others: nominated for scholars program, first aid/CPR, sports, volunteering...

Would love to hear any thoughts or feedback. Much appreciated!!

Chance of Getting Into Post Graduate Med School Back Home

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some realistic advice about my chances of getting into post graduate medicine and trying to get a clearer picture of where I actually stand. I'm currently an international student studying in Australia, but my long term goal is to return to my home country and study medicine there.

My background:

  • I’m a final year pharmacy student in Australia
  • WAM ~85 and expecting to graduate with first class honours
  • Work experience: over 3 years of community pharmacy and multiple hospital placements
  • Currently working on my honours thesis manuscript, and hopefully getting published before I graduate
  • Extra stuff: nominated for scholars program, former sports team member, first aid/CPR, volunteer etc.

I’m not planning to apply to Australian medical schools because of international fees and limited places. Instead, I want to apply to medical schools in my home country, but I’m unsure how they view applicants who completed their undergraduate degree overseas. GAMSAT is not compulsory but I am also preparing right now just in case.

If anyone has experience applying to med school back home after studying in Australia, or knows how admissions committees typically assess international degrees, I’d really appreciate your insight. I’m looking for honest, realistic feedback so I can plan properly.

Thanks in advance.
