Had to work for them but fun after work sesh on the river (question in comments)

Fun times on the river, yesterday so the river looked like chocolate milk instead of clear. It was a grind for them. Once I found them I usually caught more than one in the same spot, but had to cover a good amount of river to find em all which was tough with the water conditions. Overall success! Finesse jig with a craw trailer or a crankbait where the lures they wanted.

Ended up being a great morning on the river.

Was on the river at 4:45 this morning hoping to get on the first light bite! Sadly it seems like the first were sleeping in cause I was throwing everything I could thing off and didn't get my first bite until 7:15. It was then dead until about 8 were the bite was hot until about 9:15. Then it was scattered bites on my way back. The finesse jig with a craw trailer was the only thing they were biting today.

Beautiful dark smallmouth

Beautiful smallie out of the Wisconsin river. Biggest smallie I've gotten out of that river. Fun pit stop on a long drive I've had this morning.

Nice Wisconsin river smallie!

Was on a drive back from a friend's northwoods cabin, the lady suggested we break up the drive by stopping to fish. Found a park on the Wisconsin river and bam! This fish smashed my choppo! The lady also caught a beautiful bluegill. Great way to kill an hour and half and stretch the legs!

Nice release on an aggressive smallie

I was bouncing my finesse jig along the bottom when I turned around to make sure my net was on the bank and not floating down the river. On that pause this fish picked up my jig and started running cause my rod almost fell out of my hands when I wasn't paying attention. Love these river smallmouth so much!

Hit the river last night.

Wanted to do a little night fishing with the full moon coming up. Was out till about midnight, only got two bites the biggest one off a zman pro craw and the other off a jackell pompadour. I got a nice one at sunset off a finesse jig with a creature bait trailer.

Hell of a day on the river.

The lady was away so the river rat went out to play! Got on the river at about noon, got off around 8. Longest wade of the year and it paid off with my biggest bass of the year. I wanted to fish topwater but I have been having a lot of luck with a crankbait recently so the spro rat wakebait was the answer. It was my first time fishing it, and first cast I got the fish in the first picture. It got me the two biggest fish of the trip. It was fun learning how to work it. You have to reel really slow to keep it on top of the water but I found if they missed the blow up, cranking it down beneath the surface would get me a bite. I got some decent fish off of my classic finesse jig. Its funny how the colors of the trailers change in popular depending on the year. Last year they were all over the motor oil color zman has, but this year I've found that they want a more natural color like green pumpkin with purple, sprayed grass, or Canada craw. Can't beat being out on the river all day, they said there was a heat advisory but it felt nice to me, there was a cool breeze keeping me level. Thanks for checking out!

Crazy surprise while smallie fishing

Was fishing around the fox river today when this flathead catfish hit my crankbait. I knew from the fight right away that it wasn't a smallie. First flathead and second ever catfish caught. I had a nice smallie on shortly after the catfish but it popped off because it bent one of my crankbait hooks(always check your hooks after a crazy fish/bad snag!!!). I got the first fish at a different spot of the river. I caught it off the classic finesse jig with a craw trailer, which was cool cause I met a fisherman who said the bass were going after the shad so I was surprised to get it off a craw imitatio.

Got a nice bass under the bridge I was parked at.

Love getting a decent fish right before heading to the car! Can't beat a bridge bass

Took the lady out of the creek for some evening fun!

Got out of work early, made us an early dinner and then we hit the creek for a few hours! I got mine off a finesse jig with a bluegill color creature bait trailer, she got hers off of a 3" easy shiner on a belly weighted screw lock hook. Saw a bunch of other nature and even took her out for ice cream after to feel more like a date.

Found some nice ones before the smoke rolled back in.

Was able to get out for a few hours today. The bite was tough but switching it up helped me get fish. Nothing was hitting topwater and I got a few dinks on my finesse jig, I would see fish following it but not committing. So I decided to change it up and toss a crankbait around. I just started fishing crankbaits in the fall and the idea of throwing crankbaits in the summer seems crazy to me because of all the grass and algae in the river, but I was already pulling weeds off my finesse jig every cast so I figured what the heck. I'm glad I did it because third cast in a got that first smallie pictured. He hit the bait as soon as it hit the water didn't even get to crank it. Caught the second bass under the bridge my car was at. Great quick session before this wildfire smoke come back for the weekend.

After work session

Hit the river hard after work. Caught three first in the first 45min than nothing. Funny it was during the hottest part of the day. I was hoping topwater bite would've been on with the cold front at sunset and having smoke from the wild fires haze up the sky but the only first to bite wanted a finesse jig. The first fish was the largest. It was hooked deep in the tongue so I didn't take any pics after I got the jig out in case it was bleeding. I sure do hope this smoke leaves, and we can get some rain to push out all of this floating stringy algae we got in the river. (Edit) Got a surprise largemouth on the river and a decent size too! Pretty exciting.

Afternoon on the river

Went out today for the first time in a two weeks(was out of state visiting family). Had some fun on the river but had to work for them. Also I have a question with HUK shirts, I thought that they were supposed to cool you off while blocking the sun. I wore one today for the first time and was sweating my ass off. I've never sweat that bad even though I've been out in hotter weather. Did I not wear it right? I felt like I couldn't really feel the wind. I felt much better after taking it off. If there is someone you could do wrong wearing the gear let me know but I was disappointed in my first experience with it.

Was out all day today but these were the best two.

Had a really far wade with a buddy. Spend about 8 hours on the river. Didn't produce as well as I was hoping but still a ton of fun. Caught the biggest on a pomadour jr. First time using that lure and it was surprisingly fun to fish.

When your special lady friend wants to hit the river you take her!

The lady wanted to go out on the river for a few hours. Happy to take her out. Got a decent one. Sadly she got skunked but was able to get in some good reading by the river which I think was the main reason she wanted to go out. Fish hit my finesse jig with a creature bait trailer. Had a nice one on topwater but it shook the hook.

Relaxing afternoon on the river

This beast smallmouth smashed my choppo the second it hit the water. Fun few hours on the river today.

Staying on em

Probably expected to hear for me this weekend. Went exploring around these islands on the river I found late last year. Got one some nice fish including an 18.5" off topwater. The other two were caught on a finesse jig with a creature bait trailer. Wanted to stay out and fish the rain but had to get back to the lady.
