Interview Confusion

Interview Confusion

Haiii!

I was set for an online interview yesterday. 2:30 to 3pm. I had my notes, my resume (printed) and everything else set up. I waited, clicked on the link at 2:30pm and entered the virtual waiting room. got the "please wait for the host to let you in" message.

2:31

2:33

2:36
.....

Nobody picks up. I message my mom that i'm still waiting.

2:40

2:43

2:47

I WAIT FOR GENUINELY THE ENTIRE HALF HOUR. I refreshed the link a few times, my mom messages the interview (waiting for a response) and I contact the help line they linked. Nobody responds at all.

I stay on the line until 3:17.

Apparently, the interviewer sends my mom a message. "I waited in the chat for 5 minutes. after that, it's considered a missed interview. :("

CHAT WHERE!? Both of the links they gave went to Google Meet. My dad checked the link on his side, too. Nada. I saw NO OPTION for a chat anywhere, not in the waiting room either.

I'm so disappointed. I was really looking forward to this interview, and did my best to be prepared, on time and in a good environment for the call. All for nothing.

I believe we're going to try and reschedule, as well as visit the location I was applying for in person.

Can anyone tell me what could have happened? Or what I could have possibly done wrong? I just assumed that the interviewer might have been on the wrong platform and not noticed, like Zoom or something of the like that does offer a chat window. Help!!

Compatible App Conundrum

Haiii! I was planning on ordering a Kyocera A203KC Digno Keitai 4. It mentions a "App Store: APKPure pre installed" for download apps.

From what i understand, the apk store would let you download dated versions of apps tat would work with the phone? I don't think i understand it fully. I just wanted to ask what apps this would entail if you've gotten this phone before or one like it. would i have to do extra trying to download anything by using a plug to my computer or something?

(ie, Youtube, Google, Spotify or a music app, games and other communication/entertainment thingies.)

Thank you in advance! Here's the link to the phone page btw: kyocera-a202kc-digno-keitai-4

Interview/Starting Questions

I have an interview coming up in a few days (yeah, i know you see these a lot) but i did have some other questions.

For instance, i know that dressing appropriately for the interview is important, but I saw the tip of dressing with company colors (ie, in this case, red) can help associate you with the company. is that a good idea? and what's too on the nose?

How do they feel about hair accessories and jewelry? What else do i need to know for the interview that i might not think of?

i've done a pretty good amount of research i think- training videos, reading threads, trying to memorize the pad thingies. I'm applying for FOH and tried to look up the other places i could get cycled around as well.

I'm a teenager, but this isn't my first professional interview, so at least i don't have to worry about doing this for the first time. Most of my other jobs are also in customer service or the like. I really do want to work at Chick-Fil-A! I love customer service. I Just don't want to mess this up.

Help Around Parent Password

I have a chromebook, it's about 3 years old and acts like it's 15. slow, glitchy. anyways, i want to get some ad blockers and such from the Chrome Web store to ease the strain on my computer trying to load them in when i open a site.

For that, you need a parent to put in their password thing. whether it's a google password or parent password, doesn't matter. My dad doesn't know where it is, and he gets frustrated when i ask because it takes him so long to reset it. Mind you, he chooses not to save it for "security reasons". He's the main one in control over my stuff, my mom can see it but I don't think she messes with it much because it will send my dad off. My dad doesn't have bad intentions, but he gets very stressed easily and is likely to get mad and shut stuff down if he gets worried.

I need a way to download an ad-blocker and other extensions without needing a parent to sign in.

Yes, i have tried downloading some from the app store, but many aren't compatible with chromebook or just don't do anything. Help!

Looking for BASL resources

Haiii! I am a hearing person, to start off. I work at the public library in my city (Virginia) as a junior librarian, and interact with a wide range of people on the daily.

Whether hard of hearing, deaf, Deaf, special needs, or talking with toddlers (a lot of babies in the area seem to be learning basic ASL, very helpful) I feel like i'm not hands on enough with trying to learn new languages. I'm starting with ASL because i've even interacting with it the most. I chose BASL because of the area, there's a lot of black people like me, mainly older ones- especially veterans.

I did try to do my research! I have an ASL book that I got, but I'm thinking it might be dated since I thrifted it. I do try to watch informative videos as well, mainly from LearnHowtoSign. I feel like i'm not being hands on enough though, and LearnHowToSign isn't teaching BASL, and being a slow learner isn't helping. Aughhhh.

I know i'd do better if I was in a class as i'm a visual learner, but I don't think we have the money for that right now. What resources could I use on paper or online? What other tips are there?

The ASL I do regularly is so-called baby sign language ("more", "thank you", "eat", "more" and my personal favorite with toddlers, "stop".) These lil' things are in diapers and are more fluent than me.

A while ago, my phone screen cracked for seemingly no reason.

I was given a choice between a flip phone or a dumb phone (think a senior corded jitterbug or something). i'm not leaning towards the latter. My current phone is dangerous with the cracked glass, and the expanding cracks are making it hard for the screen to recognize my taps.

I did look up some phones on a site called Y2K Phones that I do like (yes, I was looking for some pink girly ones!), but i'm not sure how to properly make sure the phones would work on my wifi. They link frequencycheck.com as a site to check which phones can work with your wifi carrier, but I'm not sure it's frequently updated.

Running through the search for Verizon (my current carrier, though i might switch to Mint Mobile in the near future), I only see maybe five options (none of which are on the site) pop up. The same for Cox, T-Mobile....maybe I don't understand how the search works, or i'm just super dissapointed- but I need help either way! I would think at least one phone would work with common wifi.

Are there any other sites I could use to check compatibility? Or are there any recommendations for flip phones in general?
