Stargazing without camping?

We will be driving to Colorado next month for vacation.
I thought we might stop along the way at Black Mesa because my kids (8 and 11) haven’t ever seen a lot of stars.
My dilemma is that our family is NOT the camping type. Any tips on being able to see stars without camping? I’m not dead set on Black Mesa specifically.

I have an Etsy shop for newborn baby bracelets. I am making one right now for a “Taintley”

Do the parents just not know? Or was this an accidental spelling? I am messaging them right now to confirm, but I had to run here why I am waiting because I am DYING.
