Day 18 of Tylosin

Hi y’all,

I have a question regarding your experiences with antibiotics and IBD.

Do they help your cat? Metronaidozole never has once in the least helped my cat (just gives him worse inappetence and diarrhea) and he’s taken it at least 4 times now. I had the misfortune of trying Clavamox which made his poop into bizarre jello. Now after some time has passed, his current vet has put him on Tylosin. We are on DAY 18 which was originally intended to be a 14 day dose but has now been extended to 4-6 weeks. He was doing okay at first and I felt hopeful but now, on day 18, we have sunk back to uncontrollable liquid diarrhea. Not once has he had a fully solid poo this entire 18 days.

Today was such whiplash that I don’t know what to do. He had a really good looking, most solid poo this morning (the best so far!!) but now has gone back to the box throughout the day and had horrid liquid diarrhea over and over.

I’m so frustrated. I didn’t hear back from my vet today. He missed his morning Tylosin dose (first dose I missed) and now I’m sitting here wondering if I should just stop it altogether without waiting to hear back from my vet on Monday.

Her next suggestion if the Tylosin did not work was either the fecal transplant pill made by Animal Biome, or chlorambucil. Is my cat alone? I have taken him to many many vets for second opinions and ALL of them, even the specialists, try and put him on antibiotics to start with.

Where to take a stray cat for TNR/medical attention?

I have a few stray cats in my neighborhood that I’m wanting to trap/neuter/release. One of them also has a pretty gnarly gash on his arm that I’m concerned about. He’s feral.

Can anyone recommend me a place in town that could help with this?
