Hoping someone can help me understand what happened/confirm if I have or haven’t been hacked somehow.

Basically, when Outlook went down last week, I was locked out of my Hotmail account afterwards. Tried changing the password and kept getting an error saying the password was incorrect. Finally after a day of trying, I got into my account and about 10 emails generated. I was confused because over the course of 2 days, I might usually get 60ish emails. Over the next week, I was getting 1-2 emails a day. I was confused so I went into my email account settings and saw that the email was not logged into my hotmail but rather outlook_(insert a bunch of numbers and letters)@outlook.com with 1300 drafts saved to me with the recipient listed as the address of my hotmail account that I was locked out of. I guess my question is, was that email some sort of forwarding email? And how did I get logged into it? Once I noticed, I logged out of the account and logged into my Hotmail and all my emails loaded like nothing happened. Also I’m not sure if this is an Apple issue or a Microsoft issue (or a me issue for that matter). Thanks for any help!
