Windows laptop under A$1,000 for Mechanical Engineering software (Australia)
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for a Windows laptop for mechanical engineering software and would appreciate recommendations.
I currently use a MacBook, but I need Windows for tools like SolidWorks, ANSYS, Revit, and AutoCAD. I’m a graduate mechanical engineer in Australia and will mainly use it for learning, personal projects, and job preparation (not heavy industrial simulations).
Budget: ~A$1,000 (can stretch slightly if worth it)
What I need:
- Windows 11
- 16 GB RAM (minimum)
- 512 GB SSD (1 TB preferred)
- Modern Ryzen 7 / Intel i7 (or similar)
- Good battery life and build quality
- Ideally 4–5 years of use
- Touchscreen/2-in-1 is a bonus, not essential
Thanks!
