2021 JGC Laredo, transmission went out yesterday
Hi all,
I have a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo that the transmission went out in yesterday. We bought it new and are out of the powertrain warranty period because of mileage. We’ve had a few small issues like spark plugs, coils and cylinders that have needed replaced a couple of times and we just replaced our radiator and components as well as put new tires and Bosch windshield wipers on. We are at 129,400 and the transmission went out with no warning yesterday while I was driving. My only logical choices are to spend $6,982 to let the dealership replace the transmission and components and warranty it for 3 years/100k miles or to trade it in and no dealership so far has offered us more than $1k in trade in because of the transmission. We owe $5k on the jeep. I’ve read all of the complaints on the NHTSA site and I’m weary about putting $7k into it and then something else breakdown in it quickly like the electrical system or any of the other knuckle and wheel issues that I’ve seen listed. I work once weekly in Atlanta which is 2 hours and 40 min away and then at least 20 minutes in each direction of where I live for my normal job. Is it worth fixing for the warranty and to keep it or should we just trade it in and cut our losses?
