Female movie stars in the late 60s early 70s

Think about the female stars from the 1940s and 1950s. Rita Hayworth, Kim Novak, Marilyn Monroe. Somewhere in the mid 1960s, the baby boomer generation came along and all of a sudden the movie stars lost their allure. The two main female movies stars of that era were Inger Stevens and Susan Clark. I thought they were pretty bland.

Similarly, the male stars changed. In the early 60s you have Gary Cooper, Clark Gable, . They were larger than life. and they had charisma.

They were replaced by Paul Newman, Steve, McQueen, Elliot Gould. They simply didn’t have the stature of the earlier stars.

June 29, 1864 the first battle of Ream’s Station, Virginia

On June 28, Wilson had attempted to return to the army of the Potomac via the road that led through sappony church, but Hampton had blocked him. Wilson was forced to take another road, the road to REAM’s station.

By this time Fitzhugh Lee had returned from Louisa County with his cavalry division. Robert E. Lee had sent Mahone with the Florida brigade and the Alabama brigade to intercept Wilson.

Samuel Spears brigade lead the union cavalry when it reached reams station. He was attacked in flank by the Alabama brigade under general John C Sanders. He held them in Bay, but at this point, Mahone arrived with the Florida brigade and with Fitz Lee and his Cavalry division..

Mahone attack the union cavalry from the north with the Florida brigade. Sanders attacked from the east. Fits Lee attacked it from the west. Wilson stood his ground, hoping that the army of the Potomac would reinforce him with infantry.

Surprisingly, the union high command did not anticipate Wilson’s arrival and Grant and Meade were absent from headquarters. Andrew Humphries hurriedly assembled Horatio Wrights sixth army CORPS and dispatched it to reams station, but it arrived hours after the battle was over.

Wilson retreated to the south and kautz retreated to the east. Kautz managed to escape with minor casualties, but Wilson was badly defeated.

The column was followed by hundreds of slaves. Many of them were massacred at Stony Creek by Fitz Lee’s cavalry.

The divisions of Wilson and Kautz took an entire month to recover from their ordeal.

This is an inquiry about locating some recent books

I’m interested in recently published books on gueriilla warfare in Missouri, Kentucky, and Arkansas.

I was influenced on my view of guerilla warfare in Missouri by Grey ghost to the Confederacy by Richard Brownlee, but that was published 60 years ago. I’m looking for more recent treatments. I’m also looking for books that explain why Kentucky civilians turned to
Guerilla warfare in 1864. I’ve always been interested in guerilla warfare in Arkansas.
