Another one bites the dust

Yesterday I was buzzed in work by wasps and discovered a nest close to the walkway. Well, we can't have that! Contacted maintenance yesterday before leaving. Today I see them working on the nest....it's now gone. I talk to the guy and he was telling me about the nest he had to remove 2 years ago. I told him i was the one that reported that one too! I feel like I've hired a hitman to take them out 🤣🤣 First picture is the one i sent maintenance and second is what I took today lol

Why do drivers speed up when being overtaken...

Edited as i was corrected. I have my outside/inside lanes mixed up. When I say outside lane I mean lane 2 and vice versa. Sorry for any confusion. Also what I describe only happens once a trip thank God. 99% of the road user i meet are grand...just that weird 1% that do this.

Because of work, I regularly drive up and down the full length of the M9 or M11.

I set my cruise control to 120kph, sit back and relax... especially on the M9 as it's a quiet motorway, not that busy between Waterford and Carlow. So I'm doing a set speed and will come across drivers going slower, and I'll go into the outside lane, overtake them, and back into the inside lane. No issues, normal everyday motorway driving.

But occasionally, I'll start to gain on a car in front. I'm set at 120 and obviously going faster than them as the distance starts to close in. But as I move into the outside lane to overtake them, the a-holes suddenly find their accelerator and either match my speed or drive ahead.

Or worse again, I've overtaken them and make my way back into the left lane to continue on my 120kph journey. Next thing I know, the car I've just overtaken is either up my hole or overtakes me, then cuts in front of me as if to say, you're not getting in front of me. My warning comes on my dash to warn me I'm too close to the car in front. Yeah, no sh1t Sherlock. I'm not happy being so close, so I'll either pull back to increase the distance between us or as in most cases they've slowed down, I'll just overtake them again. I had one guy do this several times. I end up playing leap frog!

I'm not an aggressive driver and don't run up people's holes before moving into the outside lane and I don't cut them up either when moving back in. I'm a lady don't you know and it's not just men that do it...it's women and men, young, old, and cars, vans.

Does anyone else encounter this?

HGV close call on the M7 at Naas

Extremely lucky lady on the M7 at Naas. Maybe she was unable to pull over, but for the love of God don't stand behind your vehicle in a live lane waving at traffic. She's very lucky the HGV was on the ball and had an empty on ramp to swerve into. Lucky the HGV didn't have another HGV following close behind it.

I nearly hit a jogger yesterday

Edit to say it's the R733 out of Wellingtonbridge. It's 80kph and I'm doing 73ish. The video perspective makes it look like I'm bombing it, but I'm not.

This happened yesterday. I honestly didn't see the guy until the last sec and jammed on. I did curse him for not wearing brighter colours or a high vis. That was my mum calling him an f-in eejit. I love the sun, but it doesn't half cause issues! Thank God I didn't hit him! Posting to warn of the dangers of the sun and not wearing brighter colours. The guy must have thought he was visible because it's daytime.
