Giving up our office to save a 48-year Dallas school, where should I reach out for help?

Hey Dallas,

Looking for some advice. My partner and I are clearing out our office headquarters and moving the Carlisle School (a 48-year-old school for kids with ADHD/ADD) into our building so they don't have to close for good.

We’re handling the labor, but the city permits and fire-code build-outs are way more expensive than we expected. We’ve got a fundraiser going for the "hard costs," but I’m struggling to get the word out to the right people.

I’m not asking for money here, just looking for guidance:

Are there any local Dallas alumni groups or "legacy" boards I should post in?

Do you know any DFW home builders or contractors who get involved in community projects like this?

Any local podcasts or neighborhood newsletters that highlight people saving local institutions?

We’re determined to get these kids back in a classroom. If you have any leads on who we should talk to, please let me know.

Thanks!

After 48 years, the Carlisle School was about to lose its home. We couldn't let that happen, so we're giving them ours.

Hey Dallas neighbors,

I’m writing this because we’re in the middle of a "all hands on deck" situation for a local institution. For nearly five decades, the Carlisle School has been a second home to Dallas families. Recently, they were faced with a crisis that would have forced them to close their doors for good.

The Carlisle School serves our community's youngest—specifically Pre-K and Kindergarteners—and specializes in supporting children with learning differences like ADD and ADHD. Since 1978, they have provided a unique, small-scale environment where neurodivergent kids can actually thrive instead of getting lost in a massive system. We’re talking about a school that has seen three generations of Dallas families walk through its doors.

We couldn't sit by and watch a 48-year legacy disappear. My partner and I decided to take a leap: we are moving the entire school into our own office headquarters.

We are currently gutting and transforming our workspace into a new, safe, and permanent facility for these kids. To be 100% transparent: we aren't making a dime on this. In fact, we've cleared out our own desks to make room for theirs.

We’ve started the Helping Hand Initiative just to cover the massive costs of getting the space up to code; permits, safety inspections, and classroom construction; so the school can focus on the children.

If the Carlisle School ever touched your life, or if you just believe that local schools are the heartbeat of our city, please consider helping us cross the finish line. Even if you can’t donate, sharing this with an alum would mean the world to us and the teachers.

We’re documenting the whole teardown and rebuild if anyone wants to follow along and see the progress. Thanks for being the kind of community that looks out for its own.
