Why is (non-Reddit) pop culture's conception of the 90s so focused on early-mid 90s?

When you see the 90s represented in pop culture it's almost always things like Grunge, flannel, Kurt Cobain, Gangster Rap, 2Pac and Biggie, Pulp Fiction, Jurassic Park, etc. - all stuff tied to the early-mid 90s. Things like Nu Metal and Britney Spears that are more related to late 90s often gets lumped in with the 2000s.

I know the decadeology-related subs are more balanced but IRL it seems most of the iconic 90s stuff is from 1991-1996.

Who had better house parties - Gen X or Millennials?

Let’s call the house party phase when people are between the ages of 14-22 (high school and college/the next 4 years).

So if Gen X are 1965-1980, that means the Gen X house party era is between 1979 (when those born in 1965 turned 14) and 2002 (when those born in 1980 turned 22).

And if Millennials are 1981-1996, that means the Millennial house party era is between 1995 (when those born in 1981 turned 14) and 2018 (when those born in 1996 turned 2022).

Over course there is an overlap, ie the “Xennial Overlap” (1995-2002), but overall which era would you said had better house parties and why?

Personally - I’d choose Gen X because the 80s and 90s were peak house party years, but Millennials still had it pretty good since they got some of the 90s and all of the 2000s, which was only a slight downgrade from the 80s and 90s.

Extracted tooth yesterday - accidentally ate the collagen, is my bone graft still there?

I was eating pudding before bed tonight and somehow the collagen must have been swallowed. The procedure was about 30 hours ago. This is the best photo I could get - I can’t tell if the bone graft is inside a blood clot or if that’s just a hole. It’s very hard for me to see it.

Seattle now has the most used light rail system in the US

It’s now at 160k riders a day. This is pretty impressive for a system that’s only 17 years old. It really goes to show that splurging for mostly grade separation and prioritizing good station location and high speeds and excellent frequency really does pay off. It basically functions like a light metro system and you almost never need to wait more than 5-7 minutes for a train.
