Death following denial of reasonable adjustment from work
I'm looking for advice on where to seek legal assistance or who to speak to regarding a workplace matter involving Queensland Health.
A friend repeatedly requested reasonable workplace adjustments due to a documented disability. Specifically, they asked not to be rostered on night shifts because of the serious health risks associated with their condition. Those requests were reportedly refused, and they were even told to resign if they couldn't meet the roster requirements.
After continuing to work night shifts, they suffered a fatal medical event.
I'm trying to understand whether there are any avenues for independent investigation or legal review, and which type of lawyer or organisation would be appropriate to contact.
So far this has reported to senior hospital management, work safe and qnmu (union), so far there has been no response from any.
Any recommendations or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
