Why are there so many Filipinos named "Mae"?

Serious question... I know SOOOOOO many Maes (either as a first name or a middle name), lol. My bff (Mae) and I were trying to think of what the origin might be and we also looked it up, but haven't been able to find much and haven't come up w any good theories... anyone know? Is it some derivative of Spanish, like maybe from the name "Maria"?

Any others in their 50s in the same boat?

I am 50yo and have been married to my partner for 20+ years. For the most part we have had a respectful and loving relationship. 6 years ago he lost his job and like many others of our generation (and in his field--tech) he is having an EXTREMELY hard time in the current market finding another job. These jobs are replaced by younger individuals who for less salary. We have 3 teenage (college and high school) kids and are very fortunate to have been able to provide them a good life (basic needs, family and friends, support).

My husband has been in a deep depression for a long time bc of his job situation and it is obviously much pressure on me; not only am I keeping things afloat for us but due to his depression I am the main parent "present" for our kids. He is just operating out of survival mode at this point and has ups and downs; there is no consistency to how he is.

He is seeing a therapist as well as one job-coach (not sure what they are called but like a life/job coach) person. But at this point... I am at my wit's end. I rarely get any support reciprocated from him and ON TOP OF ALL OF THIS I am going through things like perimenopause, empty nest, etc. etc. I just don't know what to do anymore and all I can think is that once he finds himself on his feet again job wise, I want a divorce. I just can't be this to him anymore--or else maybe it's that I don't want to be.

Is there anyone else out there in this same boat? How are you handling things? Am I bananas/wrong to think that he will never find another job again?

To be clear he has swallowed his pride and taken on varying (temp) jobs but that are not a match to his past salary level for a person in his mid 50s who has much experience, college/masters, etc. (and those jobs have been temporary). Even things like applying to Costco have gone nowhere bc there are so many in his boat, I guess, for such few positions--or else he's also been told that he has too much experience.

If you have read this far through this ramble, I truly appreciate your time, ear, and any constructive or helpful advice. I'm at a loss for how to deal with all of this pressure as well as him and his state of being. I have BEEN a steady, supportive partner to him and I want to be ther efor him (so that he can be the best for his kids), but at this point all I feel is resentment and zero support from his end. I don't know what to do anymore. :( Thank you for listening.
