Why don't they show the inside of wallets/bags?

For ThreadUp posted wallets and bags, why do they never show the inside?! I need to see how many compartments there are! At this point i've just stuck with the direct listing items because I want to see inside!

Partial credit for condition not as described

In the past, when I received an item that was in worse condition than described (marked as Excellent but has stains, pilling or holes), customer service would right away offer 30% credit back or an option for a free return. Yesterday I was told that that's no longer the case and they can only process a return.

I wonder if this is a particular CS or if everyone else having the same experience?

ThredUp, please hire me!

I’m a perfect fit for your position in deciding what a piece of clothing is! I already know that every sweater is a cardigan and every cardigan is a kimono! Seriously people, I lost a picture I took of a crop top labeled as a dress. I wanted to buy it and wear it until someone reported me and then show them the advertisement… ‘ but officer it clearly says this is a dress in the photo!’. Does this drive anyone else insane? How hard is it to label a piece of clothing? Do the people they hire for this job have a clear understanding of the English language? I haven’t seen any sweaters labeled jumpers, so we know it’s not the English!

Anyone else use ThredUp for work clothes? Tips for finding better condition items?

I recently started a new job and realized pretty quickly that my wardrobe wasn't cutting it for the dress code. Buying everything new felt impossible once the costs started stacking up, so I gave ThredUp a shot.

Honestly, I was surprised. I've picked up a few blazers, some blouses, and a pair of dress pants that all look barely worn. The prices were way more reasonable than anything at regular retail, and it felt good not having to buy everything brand new.

That said, there are some quirks. Sizing is always a bit of a gamble since you're going off listed measurements and hoping the photos are accurate. I've had a couple of misses, but most of my orders have been solid.

Has anyone else used ThredUp specifically to put together a work wardrobe? What categories or brands have worked best for you? Any tips for filtering or searching to find better condition items? I feel like I'm still figuring out how to navigate the site efficiently and would love to hear what's worked for other people.

I will never learn my lesson…

So I see a cute pair of Zadig and Voltaire lounge pants that appear to be made of legging/stretch material. They are listed as size 34”. I assume this listing is the measurement from laying flat, un-stretched. These pants are about 12” measured flat. They barely have any stretch although there is an elastic band inside as well as crimping on the waistband. I’m just confused. I thought they’d fit my XL bottom and was so excited to get them. I have had very few issues with ThredUp, but I have the feeling this is the start of a pattern from reading this thread! Anyone want a pair of really cute small pants with NO stretch?

Rolled the dice on an “unbranded” item… probably a dupe? What do you think?

The sweater is actually in great shape and the stitching on the inside of the collar looks right. But it’s the sewn in label that has me suspecting it’s a dupe.

Those with more experience- what do you think? I’ve run it through google lens and kind of came up empty. It’s either the best $30 I’ve spent or it’s a high-quality dupe for the Pronounce infinity rope cardigan. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Cart hoarding

I am not sure what the thought process is for hoarding items for multiple days, but this is happening with a couple of my items. The items are the same brand and style, one is a bag, and one is a wallet, so I assume it’s the same person hoarding both.
This morning I saw the cart timer was about ready to be up and I was able to sneak in and raise the prices. If the cart hoarder actually want the items, they have to pay more, if they release the continuous holds, I would lower the price too. I feel slightly better about them just sitting in limbo now.
What have you done if you notice someone cart hoarding an item you’re selling for multiple days?

Suspicious

So I sent this exact dress in. Perfect condition never worn. They rejected it as unsellable and this just popped up in my feed. I’m pretty sure it’s mine because I replaced the button at the neck. Very suspicious. I hate that I ever sent them a bag. I should’ve just sold everything for five bucks on Depop. When you know better you do better.

I Don’t Get It

Once again, I received an order today with crap items. A pair of Fila shorts will have to be thrown away along with a few other things. The shorts waistband was so stretched out that there was nothing left in the elastic. If you think about it, the shorts went from the person who sent them in, to the processor who received in the item and decided to list them to the photographer who put them on the mannequin and took the photos. NOT 1 PERSON called out and said hey, we shouldn’t put these for sale.

Today’s Mystery Item of the Day (MIOTD)… 😂

Is it *really* a sleeveless shirt? A sarong? A skirt?

No idea, but kudos to the adventurous soul who’s added it to their cart, you’re my tribe!!! 🤣 Please post whatever shows up, I’m invested.

Sending in a kit this weekend

Sending in a kit this weekend, is it too early for fall and winter things? Or maybe too late for summer things? I know my local consignment store won’t take any more summer stuff, but at the same time sending in a cold weather stuff seems a bit premature seeing as it’s only just the beginning of July. I always do premium kits so I know it’ll get processed in about three-ish weeks.
The people really start buying fall stuff in August? Are you people going to be buying thick winter coats before the end of October?

New Return Policies

All of the recent return protocols have made it almost impossible to shop on this site. I just had the weirdest interaction with their AI Chat Bot and then a follow-up with a live agent. I received and item that was listed as being in "good condition" with a minor stain. It was a hoodie that arrived with the drawstring missing, and multiple stains throughout. After submitting a return request, I went over to the chat bot to ask about getting the $10.99 return shipping fee waived. The chat bot told me to send the return number to a live agent and the shipping fee would be waived because of the inaccurate listing description.

I do what the chat bot requested, then a live agent pops on the chat. I had already sent the original order number, item number, and return number to the agent at the start of the chat. They ask me for the same things immediately as well as photos. The photo upload option was not working in the chat. So now I'm in a never-ending email loop with customer service trying to prove that my return is worthy of the shipping fee being waived.

This seems absurd. Thredup is notorious for their shoddy listing descriptions and photos. Every single time I shop on this website I get closer and closer to never shopping again. I'm asking for a ten dollar fee to be waived on an item that was donated to them and they probably didn't even pay out the original owner for.

Anyway, rant over. If Thredup wants to make their website infuriating they have succeeded.

Bad selling experience

I’m increasingly fed up with ThredUp. Their listings are constantly inaccurate and I’m starting to think they price high end items to make sure that THEY DON’T SELL so they can then relist stuff without paying you anything.

Am I doing something wrong? Should I just throw in the towel?

My last 3 hauls

And I am loving everything! The striped sweater I had my eye on for a while and it kept going down in price. The gotten is a swim coverup, NOT a cocktail dress and I just ordered a cute polka dot sun hat to match! But everything fits and it’s all NWT

I regret sending an item in and am increasing the price so it won’t sell. Anyone else?

I sent in a vintage blazer which was underpriced and incorrectly listed. I want it to reclaim it as Poshmark or eBay will yield better results. Has anyone done this?

No open bags?

What did I do wrong? I purchased three times on TU and I was under the impression that I was going to be given the option to start an “open bag” for a week. And that option didn’t come up. I know I’ve done in the past.
