The Plot Thickens

Update on the lost Max Mara coat and the box that “couldn’t be processed”

The kit populated with a bunch of photos of my items and that they couldn’t be accepted (11 of the 16 items). Customer service is not willing to pay me more than $1000 for the kit, which is basically a decently fair value for every item in the kit except the coat. They said they probably would’ve rejected the coat so they’re not going to pay me out for it. Mind you this is a premium kit with return assurance, but I’m not getting these items back. There are also five items missing from the photos. Feeling at a loss as to what to do, thinking about emailing that CEO email address that I’ve seen floating around. They’re violating their own terms by not paying me for an item because they said they think they would’ve rejected it, but also not giving it back to me even though I had a premium kit with return assurance.

The two items without their brands recorded are Tory Burch suede sneakers and a Kate Spade leather tote. Items didn’t show up at all are a striped moschino wool dress, two evening dresses from Alexia Admore, a pair of Stuart Weitzman lace up witch boots, and some leather Sam Edelman boots

It finally happened to me

I send in clean out kits all the time. In the past I’ve used it as a way to get rid of junk, but lately I’ve started specifically sourcing very high-end goods to send it. My last five kits were full of designer items but this one was my most expensive kit and they lost it. It had a cashmere Max Mara coat worth thousands of dollars in it. They’re trying to pay me out $71 based on my “average kit earnings“ because my last five kits of designer stuff haven’t fully processed and sold yet to show that my average recent kit value should be well over $1000. I’m dying, they won’t even say they lost it, just said it’s unable to be processed. And amazingly it’s the one with the $5000 cashmere coat in it. Don’t get me wrong, I did not pay that much for it, but that is what it retails for and I was expecting to get seven to $800 for it. I’m dying. They won’t even say what happened just that they can’t process it.

UPDATE: we are in negotiations. Their first offer was $71, once I gave them a list of the items they offered $1000. I’m trying to get them up closer to what I expected for the box which was $1500-$1800 so customer service is trying to do right by me. They are angels. This is just a frustrating experience. If they do come up to at least $1500 I’ll consider myself satisfied. They did give me more information about the box, they said it arrived damaged. It’s just very strange because they started to process one item (a Moschino sweater NWT) took one picture of it, and then there were four pictures of the wall, and then stopped. If you ask me if a box arrives damaged they need to photograph the entire box to prove this.

Questions about sending in a couple items

I’m an experienced seller with ThredUp consignment boxes, so I already know all the usual tips and tricks. But I have a couple items I’ve never sent in this type before. First question, are they still separating dresses with linings? I have a beautiful dress I’d love to send in but it has a fully detachable lining that does have its own brand and size tag in it, and I’m concerned that even if I safety pin them together they’ll separate them. Has anyone had experience lately with this? I know they’ve gotten slightly better about some types of things like matching sets.

The second question is, is it worth sending in a really nice bag if it’s missing the Crossbody strap? It’s a big beefy satchel with the top handle, and it had a dinky little Crossbody strap that no one would actually wear with the purse, I set it aside and lost it. I’m wondering if they’ll just automatically reject the purse if it doesn’t have its Crossbody strap

Silly me for not forcing the post office to be open so I can ship

You’d think their software would have a way for understanding the concept of a business day versus just a day. Seller ordered from me late morning on Saturday. The post office near me closes at three and I wasn’t able to drop everything and ship in the next few hours. I’ve already dropped it off at the post office this morning prior to getting this email. I’m so sick of being dinged for taking too long to ship because of Sundays and holidays.
