When is a lie a lie…

“Amanda and Raffaele have not lied.”

I have heard this schpiel so many times from Amanda Knox’s supporters or (Amandist’s)

Firstly, everyone lies. Let’s start with statistics.

In a survey, 75% of the participants admitted to lying between 0 to 2 times daily. During communication, 7% of it consisted of lying but only 10% were major lies. 90% of the time, the lies were trivial.

https://www.crossrivertherapy.com/research/lying-statistics

We know Amanda lied because she lied about smoking weed.

The Initial Denial: Early in the 2007 investigation, Knox lied to police and claimed they hadn't smoked pot, stating she covered for her roommates so they would not face professional consequences or lose their housing/jobs.
The Admission: Knox later acknowledged that she and Sollecito had smoked a marijuana joint and watched a movie at his flat on the night of November 1, 2007, which formed part of her contested alibi.

So there. Amanda Knox is likely part of the 75% who lies daily. Why? Because she lied point blank about the weed. That’s the first thing, she knowingly lied in a police investigation about a murder, to the police.

So, what other lies do we have?

Off the top of my head.

1. Amanda lied about her selective memory of that night. Her memory is razor sharp in her biographies, but terrible that night. Only that night. It’s the only night she ever has memory issues according to her two books, countless interviews, yada yada.
2. Amanda lied about where she was the night of the murder. First stating she was at home, then stating she went to the basketball courts with Patrick, then she saw Patrick murder Meredith, then that she was back at home. We know she is lying here. The question is which statement is a lie and why.
3. Amanda lied about the bathmat sashay. How do we know? Because in some statements, she bathmat sashays out and back, in some she bathmatsashays only out, in some she doesn’t at all. We know she’s lying.
4. Amanda and Raffaele lied about the state of Filomena’s door and who opened it.
5. Amanda and Raffaele lied about what time they woke up that morning.
6. Raffaele lied about his alibi.

We know they are lying.

So what else are they lying about? Anyone who says Amanda has not lied is in denial of case facts. It’s proven the moment she admits she lied about smoking about weed.

The average person lies, is a liar, lies twice a day. So on average, given Amanda already lied to the police once, and given these statements are clearly not true, it’s proven she had the capacity to lie, did lie, and likely according to statistics would lie more than once a day at least.

If Amanda lied about any other part of the case, would it change the people’s mind who believe that she’s innocent?

Because she did.

As Meredith Kercher died 6886 days ago, the average amount of lies Amanda has told if she falls within the average person’s statistics is 13732 lies.

Since she has dedicated most of her time to speaking about the case, nor is she known for telling the truth about anything, it’s not unreasonable to speculate Amanda has told thousands of lies about her involvement in the murder of Meredith Kercher.

Raffaele failing to kick down Meredith’s door

So Raffaele and Amanda return to the house and formally discover the crime scene at around 12pm on November the 2nd.

Amanda had previously discovered what she thought to be either Meredith’s blood on the floor from her period, or from an accident according to which version of events you want to believe from Amanda.

She had previously called out for Meredith, and not heard any answer, leading her to think Meredith is asleep.

So, Amanda comes back to the house with Raffaele, and they suddenly experience concern for Meredith, to the point where they try to kick her door in.

Raffaele doesn’t try very hard to break it open, and stops halfway through breaking it in for what he claims in two different occasions is two different reasons.

Version 1. He stops trying to break in the door because he thinks Meredith is sick AND HE ISN’T PHSYICALLY STRONG ENOUGH

From his interview with Kate Massey

“Raffaele said: "I tried to knock it down. I thought maybe she was ill... I made a dent, but I wasn't strong enough on my own so I called the police."”

Version 2. He stops trying to break in the door because he thinks a burglar is still hiding inside Meredith’s room.

From honour bound.

“ Amanda knocked at the door, gently at first, then ever louder, until she was banging on it for a response. I made a halfhearted attempt to kick it open but wasn't sure it was the right thing to do. We peered through the keyhole, but all we could see was Meredith's brown leather purse sitting on the unmade bed.”

"‘What if the intruder's still here and he's locked himself in Meredith's room?’ We didn't know what to do about Meredith's room. Filomena had called back a couple of times and made us appropriately concerned that Meredith had vanished..."

Both reason one and reason two can’t simultaneously be true.

In version one, he thinks Meredith is ill and he isn’t strong enough to break the door down.

In version two, he thinks there is a burglar inside he room and he halfheartedly tries to kick the door because he isn’t sure it is the right thing to do, meaning if he wholeheartedly tries to kick the door open he would likely have enough strength.

Broken down even simpler.

V1. Meredith is sick, not strong enough to kick door.
V2. Burglar in room, halfhearted kick.

One version is a lie. Both cannot be true at the same time.

ERGO, Raffaele is lying about his motivations and failures to kick Meredith’s door down.

Raffaele is a liar.

Amanda Knox’s new comedy show is a PR exercise, and it’s time to stop cashing in on Meredith Kercher.

Amanda Knox, and her most emphatic supporters, have repeatedly stated that her new Edinburgh Fringe comedy show, Cartwheel, is not about Meredith Kercher.

But in the same breath, Knox claims she honors Meredith's memory in the show and is very sensitive to it.
Why does she need to mention Meredith at all? Why can’t she do a stand-up routine about motherhood or her life without bringing up her flatmate who was brutally murdered?
The Kercher family has explicitly petitioned for Knox to cancel the show. When presented with their comments, specifically that her show represents violence against women, Amanda laughed it off. She claims the show is called Cartwheel because it’s ridiculous that doing something as innocent as a cartwheel in a police station was held as proof of guilt.

Because of this, it’s hard to view this as a genuine comedy show.

It’s a PR exercise where she is using humor to defend herself in the public eye. I see her motivations breaking down into three main points:

  1. Defying the Kercher family: There is no way Knox didn't know the Kercher family would be horrified by this project, yet she moved forward anyway.
  2. Regaining control: She is trying to regain her power and narrative after past public humiliations (like her previous stand-up set in Seattle with her sister).
  3. Framing the narrative: She is using the stage to advance her defense that her cartwheeling was as pure and innocent as something a child would do, rather than the nervous energy of someone waiting for their alibi to fold.

Knox’s show is undoubtedly tethered to Meredith, and it feels completely unnecessary. As the Kercher family has pointed out, Knox has already written books, made multiple documentaries, and had a Hulu series based on her life. When is enough enough? When does she stop cashing in on Meredith's tragedy?
