Surgeon accidentally left in nail piece..?

Hello! So I had an incredibly painful ingrown toenail that was thankfully removed by my local podiatrist. He was incredibly nice and talked me through the whole surgery. Aside from the obvious painful numbing shots, the surgery went great and recovery went pretty well.

I’m pretty much fully healed (it’s been months) but I’ve come to notice a piece of growing nail in my quick(?). I took a picture to show… it’s as hard as my nail, and it’s definitely IN my toe as it hurt when I tried to pull it out myself. I’m leaving it alone now because of that- don’t want to cause any damage. I circled it in the photo.

Is this something my podiatrist accidentally left in..? Will I have to go back and get this removed?

(The indent in my nail will grow out- and the crack above is from me accidentally breaking it but I’m not worried about any of those- just the growing piece in the corner.)

What is this little guy? (Odessa Texas)

Found this guy(?) behind my toilet. He had a very cool pattern on the butt, and very big bulbs on the ends of his little legs. I tried to get a photo of his face/eyes but unfortunately my camera wasn’t cooperating! I set him outside after the photos.
