NV-2

Seeing the ads for Ms. Thompson against Mr. Flippo, I think Thompson missed a golden opportunity for an entire ad campaign welcoming Flippo to Northern Nevada.

Imagine filming spots in Middlegate, Jarbidge, Gerlach, Orvada Lovelock, or any number of small Nevada communities, each opening with, “Hey, welcome to Lovelock!” followed by a slightly tongue-in-cheek explanation of where it is and how to get there.

You could do this in a million places across Northern Nevada, and I think it would be pretty damn funny. It might even have caught on as a clever way to make the point that Flippo isn't from Northern Nevada, without having to beat people over the head with it.

Time to heal,

I suspect this is typical, but I haven't come across it specifically.

I work a lot with my hands, so cuts, scrapes, pokes, and so on are pretty much unavoidable. Since I've been on Eliquis post-PE—coming up on 10 1/2 months now—I've obviously noticed that bleeding takes longer to stop. The old days of “cut, pressure applied, bleeding stops” are over, and I'm used to having to keep pressure on things about three times as long. All super cool. Better than waking up dead.

That said, I've also noticed that the actual healing of what used to be a stupid little nothing cut or scrape seems to take considerably longer now.

Has anyone else on Eliquis noticed the same thing? Is slower healing itself a typical issue?

62 vs 72

We meet with our financial planner once or twice a year and he is always been in the camp of delay taking social security as long as you can because of the dollar value increase

The last meeting we had he had changed his tune 100% by saying take it as soon as you feel comfortable because the long-term availability of Social Security is up in the air (something I personally disagree with I believe the government will not allow it to fail how they fix it is another conversation)

nonetheless I pointed out to him that if you start taking social security at 62 versus 72 $1 worth of value to an individual at 62 when you're still exceptionally active and living your lifestyle is substantially more valuable than waiting 10 years.

I'm not suggesting that at 72 life is tapering off & life is over however 10 years at this stage in life seems to be a little bit more energetic and Nimble then one would anticipate being a 72.

Naturally everybody's financial decisions are individual choices and I'm not suggesting that there's a one-size-fits-all answer.

I just very much enjoyed that last meeting with our planner as he is the same age as I am and he's now realizing ..

you know ..

maybe

I will take my Social Security earlier than I had thought.

EDIT - YES, I KNOW 70 is the max. The 72 is a comparison of the utility value of a dollar to a person at 62 versus that same dollar to a person at 72.

Feel better now?

On June 29 the Supreme Court ruled that pulling someone's location history is a Fourth Amendment search. On July 4th I asked Florida's three biggest sheriffs to show me their warrants.

Quick version: Chatrie v. United States held that retrospective location tracking requires a warrant. Florida's sheriffs run automated license plate reader networks that do exactly that kind of tracking, thousands of queries a day, and their vendor is telling them the ruling changes nothing.

So I filed synchronized public records requests on Broward, Orange, and Polk counties asking for two documents each: the ALPR query audit logs since the ruling, and the warrant compliance ledger authorizing those queries.

Two documents. One subtraction problem.

If the warrant ledger exists, great, I'll frame it. If the logs show thousands of queries next to a ledger that reads zero, every public defender in Florida gets a pre-built motion to suppress. And if the agency certifies no ledger exists at all, that's a written admission there was never a warrant process to begin with.

Every outcome exports to CSV except their innocence.

Full piece, including how I pre-wired the requests to kill the inevitable $2,000 fee estimate: LINK

I'm also building a free field manual so you can run this exact audit on your own sheriff. Free as in free, no paywall. Subscribing is how you get it when it drops. If you want to fund the filing fees and the fight, there's a paid tier and a war chest, but the free button gets you everything.

rather cool

Today I stumbled across something pretty cool.

I was digging through some Revolutionary War records (fold3_dot_com) is having free access for 250 hrs) and came across a six-page statement from one of my great-whatever-times grandfather's describing his service, enlistments, draft status, where he lived, and where he served. Most of the facts weren't new to me—I already knew he bounced back and forth between southern New York and northern Pennsylvania and had a general idea of his military service—but reading it in his own words was something else entirely.

There's a big difference between knowing an ancestor served and reading a document where he's telling his own story, in his own voice, nearly 250 years ago - to me is oddly emotional

While I was at it, I decided to check War of 1812 records. I wasn't expecting to find much, but sure enough there were a couple of men who appear to have been younger brothers of that same ancestor. One record even included a claim that he paid a substitute to serve in his place, which sent me down an entirely different rabbit hole.

For someone who already spends way too much time chasing history, it was a pretty good way to waste an afternoon.

So I'm a dipshit

I was in the ICU for a while 6 mos ago, I thought I had a pretty good read on what happened primarily because I was never in pain just tired and coughing. and I am pretty matter of fact abou these things (problems not just medical -> problem -> solution-> move on. )

so today making a follow up I pulled my actual diagnosis .

I had a significant pulmonary embolism involving both lungs. There was a large clot in one of the main arteries supplying my right lung, along with additional clots in smaller arteries in both lungs. Several arteries in the lower right lung were completely blocked. Because blood had a harder time getting through the lungs, the right side of my heart was beginning to work harder than normal, though the strain was considered mild.

dodged the bullet. I'll be mow - ing down eliquis for the rest of my days and I am super ok with that

Welp Shittlemeyer suckling the presidential teet as co chair got him squat.

The GOP primary prediction markets now have Flippo at 90+ yes t to The RHINO Cowboy cosplayers 9.

Will be interesting to see if NV follows Texas' trouncing of traditional GOP candidates vs Trump basted contestants.

Then will the dems pull their heads out to have a moderate canidate come fall that the majority non affiliated independent can vote for.

Most everyone has seen this.
