Hardest video game art OAT?

Hardest video game art OAT?

I’ll go first

Dead Space 2

I have this one set as my phone’s wallpaper. I may be biased because I love the game, but I still have not come across a video game poster art that goes as hard as this. Look forward to your answers, honestly poster, box or any promotional art is permitted.

I’m not new to horror games but I am new to the RE franchise. A friend got into it and I figured I’d give it a go.

Though I wasn’t a fan of the aiming (idk something feels off/clunky with the acceleration on controller), I was enjoying the game quite a lot. I can see why the following is relatively big, and why this game is well received. I like the fact that normal zombies can be a challenge at all times, and that resource management is key.

That being said, it all came to a grinding halt when Mr X showed up. Mind you, I had to research a bit about who he was but a couple bullets in I realised this was just like the Hunter from Dead Space (albeit Mr X probably inspired that godless creature).

It was all fun and spooky being chased by him at first but very quickly it wore thin. It became obvious he’s just plopped into the game as a nuisance rather than a threat, to disrupt your flow and potentially waste your ammo.

I read that other people had similar complaints as well. I get that’s the intent of his presence but it doesn’t necessarily make it fun, at least to me. I see it as more annoying that he will appear and either force me to waste ammo or make me sit in a safe room for him to disappear.

Very similar to the experience with the Xeno in Alien: Isolation but I think given the complex AI controlling that monster, the unpredictability made it fun. How much can I get away with before it drops out of an air duct sort of thing. With Mr X it feels way too predictable, like as soon as I start running or even breathe he just homes in on you like an AIM-9. That me takes all the suspense out of it, and makes it feel more like being a kid and playing on your Nintendo DS late at night, dreading at the sound of footsteps from your mum coming to your room to tell you off. Where hiding it under your pillow feels like waiting in a safe room.

Anyway, rant over lol. Hope I don’t offend anyone with this post as I know there will be die hard fans of this game in this sub. I will probably go back and finish the game but I was a bit peeved off at Mr X’s implementation into the game as I was having fun. If anyone has any hot tips on how to make him less of a nuisance I’d highly appreciate it.

It feels so…

right?

The atmosphere is quintessentially Dead Space. If you have Awakened and Retro Mode unlocked, I implore you to try it. Turn music off too. I heard Visceral wanted to take 3 back to its roots, and this experience really takes me back to playing DS08 for the first time.

If only their real vision for the game was realised.
