I'm not Malaysian and I'm in a relationship with one. What Malaysian topics would be considered sensitive or controversial, and possibly should be avoided?

I matched with this Malaysian in Tinder and we hit it off incredibly well. Like I'm baffled how well it's going. I'm seeing a future with this person.

I'm learning more about Malaysian history and culture, including geography, religion, cuisine, language, etc. There's so much to learn about!

I want to make sure that I'm sensitive to the more controversial parts of Malaysia, so that I avoid them altogether or approach them with caution. As an extreme example, the parts of a country's history that they pretend never happened.

So what parts of Malaysia are sensitive? For example, should I steer clear of asking about relations with Indonesia or the Malayan Emergency? Is the Sarawak separatist movement a touchy subject? Things like that.
