Spitfire to 14.3

Context: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzdXSCFiWvE

>The next generation of the aircraft, a concept model called the Aerolite Spitfire Type 433, has been built by a team of designers and engineers at a fraction of the cost of buying an original.

>The new two-seater model has been constructed for about £750,000, compared with the more than £3 million price tag of an original Spitfire.

>The team revisited wartime government plans to replace diminishing supplies of aluminium for Spitfire fuselages with a composite alternative called Gordon Aerolite.

>Those plans were later abandoned in 1940, but this team have continued with the designs to create the Aerolite Spitfire.

>They have used modern composites to build what could be the world’s biggest kit form aircraft.

>The aircraft will supplement the ranks of the very rare original two-seater Spitfire, as there are only about a dozen remaining operational.

>Its composite construction means there is no requirement for hangar storage as it is weather resistant.

>The full-scale concept model, which has been unveiled in Bodmin, Cornwall, will tour the UK this spring and summer at up to 10 air shows and military and classic motor festivals.

Let's look at them one by one.

#1 Achilles being 3.3 totally understandable with it's M10 hull and turret. There is also Archer at 2.7 but that thing is the most handicapped TD anyway.

#2 Challenger is literally a 17-pounder put on a Cromwell chassis. It's tall, crude, lightly armored but works. Has APDS but it's useless.

#3 Avenger is better version of Challenger. Lower profile overall but semiopen turret. Doesn't really change much since both of them were lightly armored anyway. Lacks APDS but it didn't really matter anyway. But also lacks a machine gun. Reloads 0.6 seconds slower which is technically a downside.

Most people seem to really like Chally but I honestly hated it. Avenger worked way better for me despite both of them play the same style. Gun handling wise they are hand to hand but somehow my shots with Avenger got easier oneshotkills and better penetration when angled.

#4 And there is Centurion. It's considered as the first MBT for Britain. Much better hull and turret configuration. Also way better armored but it can be easily penned by BR peers. Yet, it's still has the same 17-pounder gun. Infact firepower wise it's literally the same as Chally but even slower reload than Firefly.

Now about their BR placements

Achilles and Archer were understandable so I'm gonna skip those. I take Avenger and Sherman Firefly as the baseline 17-pounder tanks at 4.7 BR. Challenger in my opinion (despite being a predecessor for Avenger and all that) doesn't deserve being at 5.3 BR just because slightly faster reload and APDS. Even if it was exactly the same as Avenger, it's hull and turret are worse.

4.7 rarely gets uptiered to 5.7 it's a more balanced BR. But 5.3 is always getting 5.7 and 6.0 matches. You are constantly facing Tigers and Panthers in other way of saying while you are worse than Avenger. I was also having Avenger in my lineup and hell even in 6.3 matches Avenger works better than Chally. Statshark also proves my point. Challanger vs Avenger kill/death ratio is 0.98 vs 1.31. Infact, Avenger is the highest K/D vehicle in Rank 3 British TT.

Then we have Centurion. 6.0?

Yes it's better armored and the first MBT etc etc but it can get panned in the turret face by most of it's peers anyway. Besides turret top is an awful weakspot I wouldn't even call it spot because entire turret top is like target practice. It's slower, gun handling is way worse it's only better than Achilles (duh). Even with all this I would gladly accept it if Centurion had more than 6.0x zoom for gunner sights compared to other 17-pounders but no it's the same. Why is this sitting in 6.0? Just because it's not a Cromwell chassis cruiser tank?

It's winrates are worse than others but ofcourse miles ahead of German tanks. So in a way, Avenger is under BRed then? Centurion being in the same BR as main Panther variants is weird. 75mm KwK44 can't even compare with 17-pounder. If you read so far, thank you tank nerd.
