NPD? Pilot Custom 823 Amber <F>

Received on the 18th, but didn’t open and ink until today. I used it to backfill my Hobonich!

BUT OMG! You guys weren’t kidding. The Pilot Custom 823 is divineeeee. I think I must own them all. 😂

Inked with Diamine Ancient Copper. Literally a dream pairing!

Has anyone out there had a really nice long term experience with the Platinum 3776 Nice Lavande/Lilas/Pur?

I mostly see posts of people talking about their experience with this pen body from Platinum having issues with cracking. I am wondering if it is more so that people with bad experiences are more likely to post about it or if this is a pen I should avoid? I can’t stop thinking about the Lavande version, but don’t want to pay a few hundred dollars for something that won’t even last a couple of years.

Today marks month two of my fountain pen journey. As you can see, I am in deep.

I have these ordered favorite to least favorite writing experience.

Sailor PGS <MF> Dragon Palace (new plating)
Esterbrook Estie Kachofugetsu <F>
Sailor PGS <MF> Grateful Crane (old plating)
TWSBI Eco <EF> Caffe Bronze
TWSBI Eco <EF> Serpentine Bronze
TWSBI Eco <1.1 Stub> Glow Purple
Kaweco Perkeo <F> Iridescent Pearl
Sailor Shikiori Steel <F>
Sailor Shikiori Steel <F>
Leonardo Furore <M> Aquapetra
Pilot Kakuno <F> Beige?
Lamy Safari <EF> Cream

HUGE GAP between 12 and 13 here. I basically am only using this still because I like the ink cartridge color in it. It’s inked with Diamine Sherwood Green.

Jinhao 82 <M> Transparent Green Glitter?

Edit: Am I old? How do I make a numbered list work on Reddit 😅 Makes the formatting so weird.

Taking steps out of my normal entry style to have my Cousin better serve me

I’m adding a little context to this post that is originally from my Instagram. TW: Loss of a child

Big photo dump and big ramble:

I’ve been a little MIA on here with the passing of Mother’s Day. I, first of all, want to say a happy belated Mother’s Day. It is a job that requires a lot of strength and courage. I hope you all were able to celebrate your motherhood in a way meaningful to you.

This was supposed to be my first Mother’s Day. And in a way it still is. I sadly lost my little boy in February so this brought up a lot of feelings. I am okay and I am hopeful for the future, but I am still sad and this past week has left me feeling a bit off kilter again. The loss of my son is what actually got me into journaling to begin with. In March, it started as daily letters to him in a little pocket journal that I still write in today. Just a way for me to still feel connected to him. I occasionally talk about him in my Hobonichi as it is a part of my life, but for the most part I keep those thoughts confined to my other books.

I am glad over the past week I have kept up with my journaling as it is an extremely therapeutic practice. As a result of my mood my journaling has kind of been all over the place. I’ve been a bit more experimental and relaxed, less rigid with how I expect it to look. I am really happy I did that. Even though some of the pages I have done lately I don’t know if I necessarily like, they served me very well as a practice. It is nice to know that I am able to let go a bit and let my journaling be a healing activity for me.

“Only people who are capable of loving strongly can also suffer great sorrow, but this same necessity of loving serves to counteract their grief and heals them.”

Simple, but one of my favorite recent entries!

Re-upload! For some reason Reddit removed my post again through the auto filter 😅 I think it doesn’t like the multiple angles of the same thing. Potentially marking it as spam? Not quite sure!

Was the first Sailor I bought fake?

I know the Grateful Crane, blue/periwinkle, one is real. The Dragon Palace, green, I wonder now if it is fake. They are both supposed to have yellow gold accents and at first when I only had the dragon palace I wondered if maybe it was just a yellow light gold and I was as imagining that it looked silver. Also, like with the grateful crane there is supposed to be a different colored band at the bottom of the cap like you see with the beige strip on the grateful crane. They both weigh the same and the nibs are indistinguishable. As far as I can see there is no Sailor PGS in this color with silver metal coloring. Did I buy a fake?

Edit: Thank you so much guys! It is definitely the plating process change that results in this extremely pale gold color that almost appears silver in comparison.

I could not for the life of me get this ink to show up well in photos. It is a very dark purple with beautiful shading!

Edit: I just realized I wrote 1.1. Stub 🤦‍♀️ The first time I wrote it I wrote Fwsbi. I guess it was destined to be imperfect!

My prior post was removed for some reason. Hopefully that is not the fate of this post as well!

Edit: The first 3 pages are for Jane Eyre. One of my favorite books!

This was a bit of an impulse purchase I am not going to lie. I had seen it before and wasn’t immediately obsessed even though I thought it was very pretty. Then I saw that there were like 8 left in a fine on the Esterbrook website after I had seen it sold out everywhere else… so now we are here. But! I have no regrets. The resin(?) is even more beautiful in person. It has almost a 3 dimensional effect to it with the pink splatters. It’s like a pink spider web was captured in clear resin. It is honestly mesmerizing. Also the converter with cherry blossoms on it is just a beautiful touch. My favorite part, oddly enough, has to be where the cap screws on. The see through resin layered with the hint of pink and all the gold accents coming through at the join where the cap screws on is just really beautiful. This is my first Esterbrook and I know people have feelings about Esterbrook on this sub but I really wanted to be able to have my own experience and opinion. Thus far I can say this won’t be my last Esterbrook and I am already eyeing the Sugar Plum Estie.
