Help me out. What kind of roach is this at my work?

Help me out. What kind of roach is this at my work?

Firstly I apologize that this is the only picture I took and that the quality is poor. These things freak me out to the point where simply disposing of a dead one takes a lot of courage, let alone conducting a photo shoot on it.

I work in North Georgia and found this dead son of a gun in a supply closet. I’d found another about a month ago, also dead, and of what I would say an identical size. I’d say they were both around 1-1.25 inches long not including antennae.

This one, when eventually flipped over, had a dark brown back with a pretty distinctive texture (not smooth or glossy).

My office is an old building surrounded by trees, leaves, and road, in a downtown area.

My guess is a wood roach. Just please nobody tell me it’s German.

Anyways I will not be bringing home a single item from this place.

I’m looking to broaden my knowledge on things I never thought about too much but find interesting. Antarctica is one of those first subjects that come to mind. I’m hoping for a book that gives me a broader understanding of it, rather than something that focuses too specifically on one aspect or about a story or events that happen to take place there. Something very informational but digestible.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.
