Much has been said of dating apps being insidious and shitty. It’s been reasoned that due to them being publicly traded and a business out to make money, well they must be rigging it or doing some sinister behind the scenes machinations to squeeze more dollars out of users. That they don’t want people to pair off, in fact, the opposite, that they want people on their apps interminably.
Makes sense right? But follow me here… have you considered, that the vast majority of people are just fucking awful? Shitty? Solipsistic? Audacious thought here, what if the apps dont have to do anything to make it a horrible experience? What if human nature is doing that all by itself? Let me explain. It’s actually fairly brilliant as it all takes care of itself in a kind of recursive paradox.
Let’s start with men. Most men on the apps are going to be socially inept, sexually invisible, cringey, creepy, clowns. So that’s off putting to women, and a write off right there. From there, women are conditioned into easy misandry and reflexively just start to dislike most men. From here, they naturally just start to chase the top, top, top, percentage of men in facial hotness and status. Buuuut wouldn’t ya know it, now that these men are premium and sought after, guess what, they have options and copious sex, ergo, mostly will never commit, keeping women frustrated and single ad infinitum. Rinse wash repeat
On to women, this process molds them into even more callous disdainful ice queens then they probably already were when they started (I’m a misanthrope obviously and presuppose most people are generally terrible regardless of gender) and so they just end up ghosting guys that aren’t the top percent but otherwise reasonably attractive and socially adept. Keeping said men also interminably single and unhappy. Couple that with the fact that men are biologically programmed to fuck everything, and women are biologically programmed to seek the best genes, leading to a paradigm where most men get a laughably, comically, absurdly low number of likes and matches and most women are comically, laughably flooded with a trillion likes and matches the pinto second the account is created, and you have a gloriously unbalanced fucked up system where it is nigh-impossible to find true love/connection
Theres no impetus for women to be decent to men or invest in any one man when they have literally a 1000 options begging to fuck them at their finger tips. This effectively kills their empathy so fast it would make your head spin. The second a man steps a toe nail out of line she can just cut him off and match with 12 more literally the next minute. And the guy that got his heartbroken? Well his odds of paying for that sweet sweet premium subscription just went up
TLDR: If women didn’t ghost everyone who doesn’t look like Bruce Wayne, if men calmed the fuck down and acted normal for 2 seconds, and generally if both genders were less superficial vacuous fucks and had 1 iota of empathy for each other, the dating apps would be a literal godly utopia of romance
