A passenger last night offered me private driver work — 2 hours pay beats what Uber pays me in a full day. He says he regularlu uses Uber Black and Comfort Cars (through private driver rentals.. not Uber website). We exchanged contacts and he gave me a huge cash tip.
Last night I transported a young man who asked me why wasn't I building my own customer base. He said I shouldn't rely on uber and should cut them out the picture entirely. He explained he's a manager of local artists and groups and he regularly uses Uber Black cars and comfort cars for his groups and his family. He doesnt like the uncertainty of random drivers. He already has several uber rideshare drivers, who drive Uber black cars and Uber comfort cars, that work for him off app. He told me I can make $150 for a two hour block and sometimes more working for him and he books in two hour segments.
I can work all day long for Uber.. from 6 am to 10 pm.. as I did yesterday - and barely see $200.00 of which $50 goes back into the car as charge. 4 to 5 mile trips that pay as low as $3.46. Or that 24 mile trip i took the other day from the airport that uber only paid me $12.00. While they made almost $30.00.
We exchanged contacts and he said he would be calling me. He then gave me a huge cash tip.
Incredible! I will certainly drive for him when he calls. I will also look into building my own customer base. I hear more drivers are doing this.
How aboot NO!
I swear if it weren’t for these long, awful money rides, I’d have a 90%+ acceptance rate… but I get like 6 of these a day at least! Who the hell is taking this garbage?
What's the point of customer service
How can I have no issues with skip the POS and Door Dash but after a month, many emails and multiple attempts through the app it's just a wall. Glad to know we as humans are ok getting in a position to help others then not actually help and instead just do the bare minimum
Here in Charlotte NC, Uber has deployed Hourly Paid company drivers to the streets. Identifying with an Uber magnet= 5 stars. 🤑🤑
Rear ended. Can I drive my car?
I was just rear ended but curious if I can drive my car while we wait for repairs. Thoughts?
Me agreeing with all my passengers political comments no matter how extreme they are for a good tip
This is insane and a straight up lie that screws drivers over
The proposed amendment would create a federal "shield" for Uber and Lyft. It would specify that as long as the company isn't directly negligent (like failing a background check), they cannot be sued just because a driver they contracted was in an accident.
Dude, told me I could give him a return trip without pay
Picked some dude up at a hotel and he gets in and says the app won’t let him add a return trip. I said unless he adds it, I can’t bring him back. I said when the trip ends, he can order another ride. He says, “You can bring me back.” I immediately pulled over and said, “I can end the ride right now and drop you off here.” He decided to stick with plan A.
Asked my uber to go to McDonald’s
Waited 25 minutes for my uber, order my McDonald’s 15m ahead. He got here I asked if he’d take us he said yes but we had to wait around 7 minutes. I gave him a free Big Mac and a 20% tip is that good enough?
As a Gold Driver in UBER does our tier really matter?
Not sure if im breaking group rules if so I apologize. But me doing Uber is an experiment and im just sharing an observation. One thing I noticed as a Fold driver is that the perks of being Gold barely even make a difference. I usually almost always get orders where the miles are greater than pay. Frustrating when the competition is more consistently kicking out pay greater than the miles.. Also seem to be getting lots of orders after restaurant is closed and those trips kill my gas with no compensation. Still luv the app just an observation.
uber driver made me pay for toll
I had a really weird experience a few days ago, and I was wondering if anyone had experienced anything similar. The ride was off from the beginning—I had scheduled a ride for 8:10 pm, and my driver got there 15 minutes early and started spam calling me to let me know she was there. After she started driving, she gets to the toll lane, and as we drive up to it, she asks me if I want to pay cash or credit. I was incredibly confused, as I had headphones in and had just finished a long school day + shift. She got weirdly defensive, pulled up to the toll, and told me to get out and pay. I just wanted to get home earlier, and the toll was only like $ 0.90, so I decided to pay, but it was definitely a very unnerving experience for me. I was even a little scared that she’d drive off without me after I paid, because she seemed so off. Uber support offered me $5 in cash, which was fine, but the experience was still weird.
edit: screenshot of receipt(with identifying information blacked out). It clearly shows a toll was included in the ride.
With gas put of control, Uber paying almost 50% less for same rides
Rides from Port Canaveral to Orlando airport are usually $42- $50, sometimes up to $70 or $80 when everyone getting off the ships at once.
These screenshots were from last Sunday, 5 ships in Port (port max is 6 ships) so there should have been a nice shortage of drivers causing the price to go up. Instead, I kept getting hit with $28 offers for a 45 mile one way trip which usually ends up with an empty ride on the way back. Absolutely disgusting. Decline decline decline. WTF Uber.
Is Uber’s Rental Program Worthwhile?
I used my personal vehicle to do Uber for a couple of years and I’ve racked up more miles and repairs on it than I can continue to justify, though I did enjoy the job and flexible schedule. I’ve been looking into their rental program and, for the money, it seems pretty reasonable.
Anyone doing that here, and if so, has it been worthwhile for you? Any unforeseen hassles? Do you need any kind of extra insurance coverage?
Riders mad when you follow the GPS.
What do you Uber drivers do when it comes to following the GPS? Obviously the GPS isn’t always perfect, but I’ve been having customers get upset when I follow the Uber GPS or Google Maps instead of their directions.
Yesterday morning I had a lady tell me not to follow the GPS and just take the freeway and get off somewhere, but then she ended up having me zigzag all through downtown Dallas when I probably could’ve just stayed on the freeway and made a few turns to get there faster.
How do you guys handle situations like that? Do you usually follow the GPS no matter what, or do you let the customer direct you?
is it harder to get orders in the summer?
as title suggests. feeling like because people are outside more—which i love—orders start decreasing. is that the same case for anyone else? is this normal? (only been a driver for 6~ months)
How do i become a driver for passengers as well as the deliveries
I feel so stupid. I've been doing door dash lately and have wanted to multi app. I read that being a driver with passengers would make more money. Which i need so I can exist and not be homeless. I don't have a supportive job yet. I've been applying everywhere but everything is so dry.
If someone has a video on how to do it please lmk. I am so stupid with this stuff.
