I have an appointment, where are you?

Got a ride that was 9 minutes away. It was 7:58am. Rider texted she had an appointment at the DMV at 8:15 and she made the reservation for 8am, where am I? The DMV was 11 miles away and nearly 20 minutes from the pickup spot as this was rush hour in Las Vegas. I knew I would be late getting to her. I also knew she was upset and even if I picked her up and got her to the DMV she'd be late for the appointment. I figured that was going to be 1 star for me. A lose/lose situation. So I cancelled.

What would you all do in this situation?

My cat and YouTube videos

He goes absolutely NUTS when I put on baby kitten meowing videos. He rushes over to the phone but never WATCHES it. He just starts acting crazy. Rubbing all over me and head bunting with his tail high and question mark shaped. I'm not sure I'm giving him pleasure or the opposite.

Huge, filthy walker

Didn't fit in my trunk. Belonged to a big obese woman. It had all kinds of crap and filth on the wheels and stunk of a lifetime of leaked urine. I told her it was too big. She suggested the back seat so against my common sense I opened the backdoor. She commenced trying to shove it into my car catching the handlebar on the frame and it dug a big deep scratch into my car. I said NOPE! Sorry but I have to cancel and got it out of my car.

I know the answer is cancel and I usually have no problem taking these rides but I wish we could opt out of these 3rd party rides.

I guess I'm just venting. I need to not worry about my cancelation rate and just cancel these on sight and also the grocery cartfull rides. These people never tip and seem to not care about us, our cars and our time.

PS. Don't tell me have compassion. I do but not this time. This woman reeked of urine and that walker was totally gross. Also, because it was so big it weighed a ton. If we had managed to somehow cram it into my car I'm pretty sure my seats would have been urine soaked and I would have had to have gotten a hazmat cleaning.

Pax that keep you waiting

Usually apartment dwellers. It's bad enough that you have to drive around til you find the correct pick up spot then they keep you waiting. And waiting. Pretty soon you get a message that they are coming and you still wait.

I'm about ready to just cancel on the spot if they don't come out within a minute. I'm sick of this. The little .22 a minute for waiting isn't worth it when I could have done a whole ride in the time I spent waiting,

Non Tippers

My observation is that people who use Uber to commute usually don't tip. These also are the people who don't have cars most of the time. You know, "the poors" People who are going to the doctor (on those rides requested by third parties) sometimes tip. If so, they'll hand you a 5 dollar bill maybe. GoGo Grandparent riders will tip you almost every time. Old people tip. Then there are the tourists. I love tourists. They tip 80 percent of the time. Airport riders tip. People on the LV Strip usually tip. Drunk people tip you by barfing in your car and talking endlessly until you can drop their drunk ass off.

Package delivery

The ride wasn't marked courier. I show up at an office bldg and a woman is outside putting gift baskets in cars. She comes up to me and motions for me to open the window which I do. She says she's the rider but isn't taking a ride, can I please deliver this gift basket because she doesn't have time to go across town. It's for a guy named Harry. I say I guess so and she puts it on my passenger seat and I take it to the address. It's a guard gated community. The guard calls the resident at the address given. He says he's not Harry and is out of town and that the person must have gotten the address wrong. So I end the ride because I want to uber more. I call support. 45 minutes later it ends up with them telling me they will contact the rider/sender and give them my phone number. In the meantime, she tips me 5 bucks. It is now the next day and she hasn't called me. I have this gift basket I don't know what to do with. It's golf stuff. What should I do?
