Pick up rider who asks and adds a stop enroute. After the stop, rider asks if I could just end the ride there. Already have another in the queue, fine by me. Three failed attempts to end/cancel for early drop-off. On fourth effort, app informs “rider will not be charged and I will not be paid.”

Lyft support tells me the rider would have needed to modify the ride. Lesson learned.
