How hard is it to host a custom map for Diplomacy on a private online server?

Hey everyone! I’m designing a LARP and want to use Diplomacy as a wargame engine to resolve the backstory/events occurring between sessions.

To make this work, I need to host an online game using a completely custom map that I'll design myself. How difficult is it to set up a custom map on a web server or existing platform (like vDiplomacy or v-Diplomacy engines)? Any recommended tools or tutorials for doing this?

And on another topic, I would like to add some custom narrative objectives like :
- Allow a secret unit to travel through your area
- Protect a sacred place
- Conquer a specific region to get an important item
Is there a variant of the game with these kind of objectives ?

Thanks!

Looking for wargames inspiration

Hello everyone ! I don't know if this is the best subreddit for this question but maybe someone might help me. I design LARPs for adolescents. I am looking for a war game that can help me tell the story of the larger world. I have some very precise needs.

I need a war game that :

- can be played quite easily (a turn takes maximum 10 minutes and you only have 2 to 6 units). Some of them are not into heavy rules AT ALL;

- that can be played with multiple factions regrouped into one big nation (there is more than 20 people playing) ;

- in a fantasy setting (with rules that can simulate the difference between an elf and a dwarf fighting) ;

- where I can add some non fighting events (a merchant cart needs to travel from point A to point B, you need to assure that no other faction passes by, stuff like that)

Thank you a lot for reading all of this !

Edit : We just played through a game of "dragon and glory" and they thought it was a bit too slow for them
