5-Color Simulated Process Separation (with halftones) on a vintage rap tee artwork.

Hey screen printers!

Just wrapped up this 5-color simulated process separation for a vintage 50 Cent bootleg design. Converted a super heavy, multi-layered artwork into just 5 spot colors (plus black shirt base) with halftones ready for film output.

Managed to keep the chrome metallic text, fire highlights, and skin tones intact without losing contrast or getting muddy. Angles and LPI are set up to avoid moiré and account for dot gain on press.

Took me around 20-25 mins to dial in the channels and halftone dispersion.

Just wanted to share the final halftone preview! If anyone needs help with color separations, halftone settings, or prepress troubleshooting for their shop, drop a comment or DM—happy to help out the community! 🤙🔥

5-Color Simulated Process Separation for Karol (Photoshop + Illustrator)

Hey everyone! Just wrapped up this 5-color simulated process separation on dark garments and wanted to share the prepress breakdown.

The Setup:

  • Colors: 5 inks total (Base White, Warm Skin Tone, Red/Shadows, Highlight White, and Naranja/Orange for the text & highlights).
  • Graphics: Portrait separated using custom halftones to maintain skin gradients without muddying up the jawline and shadows.
  • Typography: Vectorized & prepped for clean spot color printing.

Played around with the LPI and dot angles to ensure smooth transitions on the face while keeping press setup easy for manual or auto carousels.

I’m currently taking on freelance color separation & rhinestone template (.SVG) work for print shops and brands. If your prepress department is backed up or you need print-ready files with proper chokes, underbases, and channel callouts, feel free to drop me a DM!

3-Color Simulated Process Breakdown (Plastisol) — Artwork to Halftones & Channels

Hey everyone! Just wrapped up this 3-color simulated process separation for a dark garment print (KULT design).

Wanted to share the channel breakdown and line screen setup to see what you guys think or if you'd route the channels differently.

Quick Specs:

  • Colors (3): Underbase White, [Color 2, ej. Warm Red/Orange], Highlight White (or Black if on light shirt).
  • Mesh: 230 / 305 mesh for crisp halftone detail.
  • Halftones: 55 LPI at 22.5° angle (ellipse dot).
  • Ink: Plastisol.

Kept the color count low to make the press run fast without sacrificing the gradients and texture.

Happy to answer any questions on how I built the channels or dial in the halftones! Feel free to drop feedback below, or reach out via DM if you ever want to chop shop on separation techniques.
