Art Retreat Ideas Please

I have bought a 24 half pan set and swatched them out, I have brushes, a sketchbook, some loose Arches paper, a bag, water container, a sprayer bottle and paper towel. What am I leaving out? It's 3 days only, and without tuition, just me and some friends.

This was my first watercolor painting.

I was already very bad at doing branches, and I tried to cover my shame with white gouache. 😂 It's so great to see how far I have come, because my branches improved a lot. They are still not good, but compared to this... 🫣

Practicing trees, leaves and straight lines.

I wish I knew why I am so clumsy with trees. I have bought some rigger brushes. Those help a little.

Will this set be enough for a landscape retreat?

Only 3 days, so no biggie. Is it OK if I only take this set, or will I need more colors? Is there anything I don't need? I have never had a pan set, and I never used W&N before, but I want to travel light.

2nd attempt, sunny dog roses, arches paper

OMG I love Arches paper. This looks better than the 1st try, but I did better some things when it was a fresh experience. It isn't easy to repeat a tutorial.

Sunny Dog Roses Tutorial, 1st Try

I have tried negative painting this time. I'll try another paper with the same tutorial tomorrow. This is on Saunders Waterford hot pressed paper, and I love it.

Something is missing. Can you help?

This practice work is haunting me. I was practicing dry brush technique and I got lost in the details, and didn't realize that the composition was very poor. I like how the water turned out, but something is missing. I have been thinking a lot about this painting, trying to figure out what's wrong, but I have no clue. (I know it looks too grey, but it's blue in real life, just the photo is bad too. Everything is wrong with this painting atm.)

Recommendation for a newbie?

Is it worth starting an accredited coaching course and business in 2026? Could it still be a reliable business that will feed a person?

Still struggling with branches.

I think I need a different reference pic, because these branches are too hard to paint...
