R&W score boost before August (660 -> 700+)

I scored 660 on RW and 760 on Math on my June SAT. I am actually very happy with this score, because I expected MUCH MORE lower results. However, I desperately need at least 1450+ or ideally 1500+ on my August SAT, and obliviously to maximize my chances I need to focus on RW. I am an international student and I actually struggle with RW generally, and 660 was my highest score so far. So I wanted to ask some tips for this time until August SAT to actually improve. I also will provide some more detail for you guys:

  1. My best side is grammar, I just learned all the rules like it was Math and I get all the questions right in 90% of the cases.

  2. My main struggle is obviously the long reading comprehension passages, I practice them by reading a lot similar level scientific texts.

  3. I also completely don’t get how to get vocab questions right. I mean if I don’t now what they mean how I suppose to pick the right one. People say just trust your intuition and how the word sounds to you, but I want to be absolutely sure picking the answer.

  4. Also the Old English texts drive me crazy, I learned the basic stuff like thee, thou, o’er hast and etc. but it is often not enough to fully comprehend the passage. I feel like it would be a good eay to improve in those kind of questions, because they are usually short and if I would be able to understand them it could dave a lot of time.

I accept all the tips you can offer, and if you have specific method how to practice effectively to actually improve and not just doing 10 hours of practice questions and stay on the same level because you just blindly doing them and not even thinking about your process. I would really appreciate the advice that could help me to progress by studying smart.

I greatly appreciate your time, and thank you all ahead for all your advices!

James Lu Reading Comprehension Drill

He everyone. This is very specific question, and I think very few people will be able to help me, but whoever’s there with the same problem, I’m hoping for you. I bought James Lu’s SAT course and found it very effective. I was doing tremendous amount of work until I got stuck on Reading Comprehension Drill Level 3. I got to level 3 pretty easy. As I was able to read and understand the passage, I didn’t have any difficulties to remember and recite it, however when the difficulty increased to extreme I got stuck completely, I tried whole bunch of different stuff. I followed the instructions from James Lu. I even worked with so explained my difficulties and tried to practice like hard term simplification, or replacing them with x and y, or marking like subject, process, cause, etc. Eventually I was able to score 95-100 several times, but never 3 times in the row. I suspect because some times there passages I understand better due to the topic but sometimes it goes like crept crazy, when I cannon even understand the first sentence because it says something like “Porites lobata and Diploria labyrinthiformis, both long-lived reef-building corals exploited as bla bla bla”. I also want to mention that I’m an international student and English is not my first language. On my June SAT I scored 1420 (Math: 760, RW: 660). I was very surprised, because it was 100 point increase from my May SAT, so now I really want to be able to continue through the course to improve even more until August SAT. I am open to any questions, and ready to provide more details about this situation. Thank you all!
