By some divine intervention, this fic reappeared on my homepage today: Hey, Are Your Guys Still Open? by unlikelychild. It's a WIP and an AU, where Ilya owns a restaurant and Shane is stuck in a soulless corporate job...and it comes with RECIPES.

I don't see it recommended a lot, and it's totally worth a follow!

For all Canadians on here, Crave now has seasons 1-4 of Road to Avonlea available for streaming since yesterday in French and English. A great to avoid the heatwave, the rain or the smoke depending where you are in the country 😂

Apologies for the nitpicking, but I somehow ran into 4 fics today where Shane got stuck in line at customs...in the U.S. So, for those authors who care, a little fun fact about Canada-U.S. relations: after 9/11, the U.S. installed border controls inside all major Canadian airports. Meaning that anyone traveling to the U.S. from Canada go through customs in Canada, and then just walk out of the airport in the U.S. without any additional controls.

Before the major dip in travel to the U.S. in the past couple of years (for reasons), you had to account for a massive security line AND a massive custom line if you intended to travel to the U.S.

The land border works as you'd expect a land border to work, with some massive crossings and some tiny hole-in-wall border checks (...some of which kept themselves well-stocked in dog cookies!).

But I know our man Shane Hollander had his Nexus card all sorted out, of course ;)
