Why did my km get reset?

I have been farming walking km on my account and got 39 km in. The app updated, and now as I'm walking and I check the task..... 0????? 0 km??? In the last few hours for the research......it set me back??? WHAT? Someone please explain why, I tried reopening the app and everything.........
